He's an absolute dickhead, basically. He never gave his opponents credit when they beat him. Always came up with some sort of excuse, invalidating their win.
People don't mind people being a dick and talking shit, so long as they back it up. And he did for a while until he started fighting the likes of Couture and Liddell.
Iirc he never left any of his fans hanging.he'd stay until he's met everyone and sign autographs for those who wanted them.
I think it became a trend to hate him,like Limp Bizkit was real famous then all of a sudden everyone hated them.
Tito is one of my favorites. He got me into mma or nhb as it was called back in the day.

People who have met him say hes a great guy. That said he makes absurd excuses when he loses fights and has a 3rd grade level command of the english language.

Yup, I met Tito at the 118 fan expo in Boston, dude couldn't have been more like able, took as much time as possible with everyone and came across as a good guy. In my opinion he was trying to promote his "brand" with all the trash talk and show boating.
I will I'll forever be a Tito fan, my first UFC was 34 at the meadowlands, where Tito smashed Elvis (sorry Elvis). Been a fan ever since.

It won him fans when he was winning all the time in his early days, but after a giant skid at the tail of his career it is no longer endearing and he just comes off as unlikeable.

I have followed MMA for a very long time and when he came on the scene the one thing that I liked about him is he never left any fan hanging he always gave back to the fans that's what I like about him. I will say this though his trash talking can be annoying.
Guy told me one time, Tito shouldn't get attached to anything that he cannot walk out on in 30 seconds flat if he feels the heat around the corner
I've met Tito a couple times always seemed real cool. But the I see times when he's trying to talk some shit and I get the hate
As someone else mentioned it became cool on here to hate on him, he put his foot in his mouth quite often and I think Chuck is so well liked that a lot of people have always hated on him.
sad really, he's one of the old guard, a legend of the sport, is still competing, by all accounts a really nice guy yet gets no respect here.
sadly this thread and the responses remind me of a typical Nick Diaz thread.
