Fighters (in general) diet then dehydrate. Bad weight cuts come when they've messed up their diet then try to make up for it by dehydrating. I don't cut water but i am shit tier so I'm not exactly the best example
Fighters cut water weight as much as they can because then they can hydrate back and put the weight back on.
If a fighter was to legitly just diet down and step in at that weight he would be at a disadvantage vs someone who put back 10-15 pounds and now is the much bigger guy.

This. They’re trying to get as much of an advantage as possible going into the fight. Dieting so they only had to make a 5 lbs. water cut would negate that.
Not to mention many elite fighters are already starving themselves well below what they would way naturally even before the water cut (Joanna would be in this group).
They had 115, 135, and 145. I think adding 125 was a great idea. As it is, 145 is a wasteland but perhaps it will encourage ladies to move up. Once they get the weight cutting issues sorted out that will help too. You're not going to see Cyborg coming in at 168 fight night from 145 which will help other ladies decide to fight at 145. Having the 125 is agood too as it eliminates that 20lb gap between weight classes.
For the guys, I think it's a matter right now of that weight cutting standard of not letting people cut from such serious weights. For example, not letting someone be in the next weight class on fight night. 10 lbs is a lot to cut as it is. I also think that 205 needs to be re-named cruiserweight and that light heavyweight should be 235. That's about the only weight class I would add right now for the men and then really push for the weight cutting reforms.
I don't think a few new weight classes are a problem. As I said, the 125 class for the ladies was an issue that needed to be added.
It's the cutting that is the problem. No one will fight in the 145 ladies division as long as the champ comes in weighing 168 on fight night. No one should come in more than the next weight class up but at least enforce the weight cutting rules the night of the fight.
As for the men, the same rules should apply but I think that 235 class should help.
Eat a fucking lettuce - no kidney damage its pretty simple.
Learn how to count/dont do PEDs- no suspensions.
I think to a lot of fighters things like diet, supplementation or avoiding drug tests or even staying clean are an after thought. They just want to fight or do well in training at any cost.
fighters are fat asses when they dont have a fight lined up. Most fighters easily gain 20-30 pounds when they dont have a fight lined up. Which is why you see problems when some take a short notice fight. They think cutting will work but they gained way to much in between to make it.
Thats what made GSP one of the most respected guys around. He was in shape pretty much year around because he adopted it as a lifestyle. At most he would walk around 190 lbs max when out of camp. He just enjoys being fit. Alot of fighters could learn from him. Conor is another example of someone who stays relatively fit when not in camp.
