However, the rioters (not all the protesters) are essentially a lynch mob, full of anger over a myriad of things, thats found an excuse to let them go nuts, and I doubt they'll go home until things get really draconian, or they arrest the cop.

As many major metropolitan areas have already learned.....most black applicants score too low on the entrance examination that consist of mathmatics, reading comprehension, and logic.
In addition, the few that make it past the entrance exam are then DQ'd for having a criminal record and are unable to proceed with the hiring process.
This is common.....not my opinion.
If you don't believe me, look up how the DOJ has been pressuring local police departments to lower hiring standards to allow more black officers.
It's out there. 
There is enough affirmative action already and there doe not need to be more. Enough with giving jobs because of color and not skill.
In saying that there needs to be applicants for the job and those people need to have a backround check and fitness check. Just saying there should be more black cops it is not that easy. Maybe many are not as many trying to be cops and a percentage of the ones that do want to be cops are not qualified.

I have no idea, anecdotally in NYC I see cops of all colors. It used to be a job for the Irish, btu I think that's started to change. However, the disparity in Ferguson is really high, and you have to take context into consideration. We're talking about Missouri here, the South.

If all the black cops got assigned to the shit hole "black" neighborhoods, and all the white cops got assigned to the nice, crime-free "white" neighborhoods, then the black cops would complain to the police union that they were being assigned the shitty & dangerous work assignments based only on their race. And they'd have a valid complaint.
Long story short, black cops don't want to deal with those animals any more than the white cops do.

Not realistic. I tried out for the police academy many years ago in my state. I didn't see many black applicants. Not sure if it's because they didn't have a college degree or just didn't want to be cops.
