Why don't you train/fight?

If I thought I still had time to make it to the top, I'd train. No real interest in being a weekend warrior though. At 30+ something, I guess my time has passed.

lazy, it's expensive, don't like getting injured/staph/ringworm, not many options

Got my purple belt from Jeff Curran in August of 2010, blew my knee out a month later, had surgery on it, haven't been back too much since then. Trained BJJ for about 10 years, I'm 41 now and roll about once or twice a month if time permits.

Shit's hard on you're body brah......still love it though.

Been boxing since 13 started mma @ 17 im 21 now so lets see what happns Phone Post

BrockbackMountain - I train but dont fight.

Started too late to make a real run at fighting, so no point in getting knocked the fuck out at this point.

Love to train though.
This. Also, I'm no kind of genetic monster either. I just train because I love it.

Used to train in BJJ, wrestling, and a little boxing. Just don't have the time or money anymore. Phone Post

Who's this? If it's who I think it is, you don't train because your bicep just came off of your ass the other night or something, right? hahaha

You have stated the correct. I go to the orthopedist today. Hopefully it wont need surgery Phone Post

I don't really train anymore. Have off and on for quite some time but right now is definitely an off time. I don't know why but I for whatever reason lack the motivation to train. I love the sport, love to train once I'm there, it's just getting there that seems to be the issue and I'm not exactly sure why.

Does anyone have this sort of a situation?

I play judo and jiu jitsu. Looking for a place to box and a job with better hours atm. Phone Post

Who here trains and what do you primarily train in?

I do. Started doing karate when I was a kid. Started doing jujutsu (Japanese stand up kind) in my mid 20s. Started doing submission grappling "hey, lets do this standup stuff on the ground too" in my early 30s

I also do some stick and knife stuff - but its strictly caveman type stuff "club 'em or cut 'em in a big damn hurry"

I run a small program in a health club where people come in and I help them develop/improve any skills I can.

Do you have aspirations to fight?

Hell no. I know myself well enough to know I don't have much of a competitive mindset nor am I a gifted athlete. The training I do is for me, and that's about it. Plus, in order to do it right, I'd have to quit my day job and that pays waaaaaaaaaaaay too well compared to what most fighters gotta live off of.

Kinda similar issue but mine isnt the motivation to train its the motivation to make the trip.

I suck it up and go a couple nights a week at the very least once a week barring any sort of issue like working late but I dread the drive every time. I drive 1hr15min one way to train for 2 hours then back home and it sucks. Even more so that now its dark and cold when I leave.

I grapple 4-5 days a week Phone Post

warheart209 - Not everyone is into getting KTFO and suffering brain damage brah.

Yes. What you gonna do brother when the torn python comes looking for you? Phone Post

The only two gyms in my town are ran by tuf rejects. Marc Stevens tries to trade classes for threesomes with my girlfriend and I, and Spencer Paige runs a place in a dirty ass part of town. Shitty stuff, but whatever. Phone Post

poor =\

I've been training for about 3 or 4 years. Kickboxing and BJJ. Just recently added shidokan karate which is way more hardcore than i ever imagined.

One of the things in my bucket list are to at least fight once. The only thing really holding me back is consistency. If im gonna fight i know i have to set a lot of shit aside for a good month or 2 and reallly train. Thats hard to do right now with my work schedule, wifes work schedule, and 3 year old son.

my wife really wants me to though so at this point its really a matter of finding the right time to dedicate myself for a while. It's either that or one day i'm just gonna take one on like a weeks notice and then i'll probably be hooked.

Oh Brigham....you make me giggle...

I was involved in Martial arts since I was 8 and only gave it up a few months ago. I'm a senior in high school and I have considerable gaps missing from my memory. I don't want to risk anything for when I go to college.

I joined the wrestling team and I still work out every day, but I stopped kickboxing because I don't want to possible suffer any brain injury. Maybe when I'm older I'll pick it back up, but for now I find it wise to take a break.

I also don't have time to drive out to the gym, train, and drive back every day with all the homework I have to do.

I train Muay Thai as a hobby. I don't intend to fight because brain damage is somewhat at odds with my academic pursuits.
