He fought for free, but the risks were the same whether he was paid or not. It's ridiculous to think his value here is less than someone else because they were paid by promoter, which often times is the promoter giving you a stack of tickets and the fighter having to sell them themselves.
By this logic Tito Ortiz- who fought Wes Albritton and Guy Metzger on the same night in the UFC- would have a light green name because he was in college wrestling at the time and couldn't accept money because be would be "professional".
