Why the hate for the Strikeforce HWY tourney?

I don't quite understand where the hate for this tourney is coming from. First, you have 8 very good heavyweights going at it with the potential for some great fights, other than the fights that have already been made. But, to start, lets break down the fights that have been announced:

Overeem/Werdum - This fight is a no brainer. People are asking why do this fight in the first round of the tournament. Question is, why the hell not? Why risk either one of these guys losing and then not being able to make this fight? Werdum is coming off a win, something no one has been able to do and that's beat the #1 ranked heavyweight in the world and the most dominant heavyweight in history. To not give Werdum the first crack at the title and Overeem would be absolute bullshit.

Fedor/Silva - This fight makes a ton of sense. Antonio Silva, no matter what anyone seems to want to think, is as legit and skilled as he comes, just look at his record. Fedor on the other hand is coming off his first legit loss. This fight makes a ton of sense with the winner fighting the winner of the Overeem/Werdum fight.

Barnett/Rogers - This fight is all about proving yourself I think. By that I mean, Barnett proving he can pass a drug test. Why waste a high profile fight on Barnett when there is the chance he won't pass the drug test? Brett on the other hand is always dangerous and always has a chance of knocking your head off. This fight makes a ton of sense.

Arlovski/Sergei - This fight is all about getting confidence back I think. Both have been in a slump and someone has to come out with the win, most importantly, giving either guy the much needed momentum, something neither have had in a long time.

This tournament has the potential to be absolutely great and I can't really think of a way it won't live up to the potential. how about instead of knocking it, we sit back and look how Strikeforce is doing something no other organization has done in a long, long time - Get 8 well known, legit heavyweight and put them in a tournament that will also have 3 title defenses along the way.

I can't wait.

Anyone who hates either is a paid poster or jsut someoen that likes to bitch for the sake of it.

It is a 8 man tournament with top talent and the champion is competing with the belt passing through the tournament, the one thing people used to complain about back in the day when PRIDE had GPs with the champ involved.

I think its more people worried that it won't actually happen than hating on it.

If you ask me anybody complaining about SHOULDN'T FUCKING WATCH IT. We don't want to hear your comments about it if you're a hater. Fuck you.

IveBeenRubberBabyBispingBumped -  Im all for it, only thing im wondering is if overeem vs werdum is for the title, which im guessing isnt since its a tourny. Kinda stupid. Phone Post

No it is for the title, but guess what?  People are still complaining.

Shillers gonna shill...

This tournament should be for a separate Tournament belt.

Silva vs Arona and Schilt vs Kyotaro didn't have their respective title belts on the line.

This is a very good move and if they pull this off it will steal some thunder from the UFC's division given its issues right now.

having a Grand prix tournament like this is amazing

can't wait for the first round

Haters gonna hate. Sad men try to make the world just as sad as they are by bashing things that most people should enjoy. Phone Post

As well it should be for the title. In Pride, thats what everyone bitched about is, if the champ lost, he kept his belt. It was absolute bullshit.

If the champion is fighting, it should always be for the belt. Fuck non-title fights.

This rocks.

i'm hesistant about it only in the sense that will Strikeforce be able to make it work. will fedor/overeem actually fight etc etc. be great if it come off, i canjust see the wheels falling off it though.

ufc nuthuggers

I'm excited as fuck for this damn thing! I just hope it all gets off without a hitch Phone Post

I dig it. There are a number of possible matchups that i'd like to see.

That's what I have gathered as well. I think people are mostly hesitant contract negotiations will fuck up a great thing.

I cannot wait for this tournament to go down.

I love mma, be it the UFC, Strikeforce, Dream or whatever. If Strikeforce can pull this off they deserve major kudos. I am more excited about this tournament than just about anything since the old Pride grand prix days.

i personally cant wait...fucking stoked

 Shillers Gonna Shill?

If they pull this tournament off, DFW is gonna have to hire more shillers!

The only people hating on this tourney are the TUF noobs and Zuffa shills. Phone Post
