He’s only 35 in the division that old men are still competitive since there’s no competitiveness.
He signed an 8 fight contract. After beating Stipe, Pav and maybe Gane one more time, he could walk through the rest without even training. Easy money.
I don’t think I’d be leaving when I don’t have to do any work and am being paid more than anyone else, AND get employee of the year for doing said fuck all.
He has been training for along time and I think he wants to go out on top. It would hurt his ego to go out with a loss. He figures beating Stipe which some call the heavyweight goat would be the perfect ending.
He’s utterly terrified of Ngannou. “I’m going to need 30 million dollars” immediately after seeing Francis decapitate someone, after having talked mad shit up until moments before the decapitation.
Edit: So he’s cherry picking now. There’s a few guys he thought he could hang with. Those guys he’ll fight. But while Ngannou’s still around, it’s “sharks in the water”.
I like Francis but I don’t think he would be much of a problem for Jon past the first round. If Francis does not blast him in under a round, then Jon wins this.
He’ll never retire because there’s nothing for him except fighting, and he doesn’t seem smart enough to invest or move onto the next thing. He’s really unlikable so it’s not like he’s going to do commentary or the fight management.
I actually agree with this 100%. But fear and big-brothering are real things. I still have a younger relative that looks at me as being a 10 foot tall god, even though physically he should be able to destroy me by snapping his fingers. I’m just putting two and two together… Jon has bigger big brothers, plus the sudden swing in the shit talk. It just seems obvious to me.
What matters isn’t the fact that Stipe is so over the hill at this point.
It’s that low IQ retards like NDA will read the headlines and UFC mouthpiece soundbites and parrot their talking points abt how JJ is the greatest combat sports athlete bc of it. I mean, they’ll be right, but the reasoning and talking points surrounding it will be super gay and cringe.
