I think we've gone too far as a planetary society to be sent into a Dark Age. We'd still be able to produce electricity. We'd still have medical/surgical knowledge. We'd still have Monsanto crops and other technologies.
Unless we're talking 99% of everyone dead, I doubt anything will send us back into a Dark Age
So everything is fried. You can't build computer chips (what's that?) because the computers controlling the machines are fried. No computers, no manufacturing, no phones, no vehicles,........
The entire grid is basically unprotected to a massive solar event. If we received the same blast that hit the states in the late 1800's, instead of frying telegraph lines, it would fry the whole grid which would put us back in the 1500's in quick fashion.
There is an easy however costly fix but as I understand it, the grid is owned by different entities throughout the country and it would be up to them to retrofit their equipment. Again, it's costly and there isn't anyone that can make them do it. Maybe some have but the gist I got was that its not happening.

Ahhhhhh, I like the way you think!
Even still youd only return to the 1800s at the most. Add to that non electrical based technology that has come about and it wouldnt even be that bad. Earth covered homes ect.
Sure, if you take the term literally, it's unlikely that electricity will disappear from our world.
However, the real meaning of the Dark Ages was in reference to the lack of information, knowledge and scientific endeavour...in which case, there is a huge chance that we will go into another Dark Age, where people are fed lies and misinformation as fact, and the average person is distracted by shiny things to the point that they lose perception of what is really happening in the world.
Oh wait, we are already heading into that Dark Age at a great rate of knots.

Not really, the choice is ours to make. Let the corps and politicians control more and more with each passing president? Sure, we will end up like The world of Shadowrun.
I hate the gov. as much as the next rational person but let's be honest...they have the power and they ain't giving it back to the people anytime soon.
Fucked up and really sad. It is only a matter of time RN.

Also we're overdue for an event of this nature.
Sleep tight...
1500's?
You're dumb as shit.
The dark ages were from the 6th to the 13th century dickhead. although i was exaggerating a bit for effect, the point is, with total loss of the grid, the whole place spins out of control. Do you have an outhouse? Kerosene lanterns? Wood burning stove? Horse and buggy? A huge garden? A well? How are you going to communicate? How effective will law enforcement be?
So, 1500s,1600's, whatever, it would be brutal and savage.

Thank you for saying it for me. VTFU
So out of all that I posted, your only contention is the arbitrary date range? What if I would've said 1700 or 1800? Anyway you slice it we would be fucked and you would still be a retard.
Jack, we've sparred a little in the past but I wanted you to know that for the most part, I think your threads are original, thought provoking and enjoyable. No homo..
