why was © thread deleted?

Why was the thread about taping the UFC PPV and ©
violations deleted? there was a healthy discussion going on.

Last night there were 60 posts, this morning it seems like
there were about 97 posts. Did something get out of hand? I
was looking forward to continuing the discussion.

Mods, please activate the thread.

No wonder I couldn't find it....... sheesh, why was it deleted?

What does it mean that my account was frozen? What's the
deal? I didn't break any rules, did I? The thread can be
"timed out" so maybe it can be reactivated.

Mods, please explain why the thread was deleted or timed
out, and please activate it or give insight as to why it was
deleted. If it was because of a troll, then I will create the
thread again. Please advise.

Bummer. I just logged back in for the first time since I posted, when the there were only about 20 replies.

Why was his account frozen?? And why would they delete the thread?

The gist of the thread was that I was saying that copying the
UFC PPV was a violation of the © owner's 106(1) exclusive
right to reproduction.

Goku had some good points which basically argued that until
the issue goes before a court, that the question is unsettled.

A healthy debate was occurring.

it was deleted because it was talking about comitting an illegal act.

So a mod decided that copying the PPV for home recording
was illiegal?

Why is copying the UFC PPV talked about on here like it's
OK, but we can't talk about the legality of it on here?

Can a mod please explain?

-jk

We wait.... nothings ever gonna change

We won't ever back down again........

We know it's the same damn game & it's time for alittle REVOLUTION baby....

it was deleted because it was talking about comitting an illegal act. It's legal. How ironic.

It was discussing if it was illeagal or not, not planning an illegal act.

ferox13, do you know why it was deleted? If so could you tell us?

And I am posting and creating threads, so what does this
"frozen account" entail? I'm pretty sure that I didn't do
anything wrond. Can we continue the discussion now?

I believe that the SONY decision dealt with free broadcasted
material, and not with PPV. The free aspect of the material in
that case was a big factor in finding fair use. The same does
not follow for PPV.

Goku had some good points which basically argued that until the issue goes before a court, that the question is unsettled. You missed me telling you definitely that the DMCA Section 1201(k) explicitly allows analog recording of PPV shows.

In the News today

Another drive by deletion was committed today in the UG area, it is unknown at this time the assailants whereabouts. The victim did not see who committed this crime, any info to this crime is appreciated.

No reward has been offered as yet.

NWS,

Which subsection? I am interested and will read it.

Kirik/Gabe/et al:This is highly annoying. I spent some time researching the relevant law and describing my research in detail here and poof! there goes my time.Additionally I spent some time looking for the thread but it was gone without a trace. Nothing. Nada. Frustrated paying customer here.I will not be renewing here unless I have the assurance that threads/posts will not just disappear with no notice and no accounting. My money can be used for other things. There is no good excuse for unaccountability.

Kirik/Gabe/et al:

I agree with NWS. I am a 2 time paying pro custimer, and I
spent some time as well on the thread. I am disappointed in
the deletion, and would like an explaination. My money can
also be spent towards something else. The thread was
about supporting the sport and © issues. Nobody was
advocating anything illiegal. Wht was the thread deleted and
not certain posts which may have broken rules?

maybe it was cause I copped a squat on the Landham something or other?
