Will Conor versus Floyd Mayweather be a gamechanger in a sense of opening the doors to more mixed Boxing vs MMA fights and more ? A Conor upset or even lasting or keeping it close might open the door to other matchup possibilities.
Or will it be a one off never to be considered again because the fight ended up sucking or being so one sided and a joke that it was done at all due to how it turned out ?
James Toney pretty much sealed the deal on boxers trying MMA imo. After Conor gets outclassed, I don’t expect traffic to be very heavy in either direction.

Heavyweights like for instance Stipe Miocic vs Anthony Joshua might generate big numbers.
There would be a few compelling matchups, maybe not a lot though.
Some MMA’ers like McGregor , Cody Garbrandt and Miocic spend much more of their training doing boxing and they are elite athletes with elite power and speed.
There are MANY MMA fighters who also do pro boxing fights. Many more than most even imagine. Ricco Rodriguez who no one considers to have good stand up is a vet of the squared circle and has even experienced victory by way of the KO. Nothing will change, MMA fighters will continue doing it.
Google some of your favorites, many have done it will do it.
If floyd gets outclassed and has his lights shut off like we are all hoping then one thing will happen.
If conor gets outclassed and beaten handily like the boxing guys are expecting and hoping (and lets be honest thats most probable but I'm still all in on Conor......EIRE) then another thing will happen.
You cant say what will happen as a result of this crazy freak show until you see the RESULT.
Its like saying "what will happen to america after the election" well that completely depends on who wins it doesn't it...
