Wisdom Teeth Removal Question

I am getting my wisdom teeth removed next month and I was wondering how bad the operation sucks? Ive had a root canal before but never anything like this.

My wisdom teeth should have been removed years ago, sometimes I feel like pulling a Cast Away.. Phone Post 3.0

I had mine pulled in my early 30's. I didn't think it was a big deal. I was pretty much ok the next day. It hurt if I chewed hard foods but if I stuck to soft foods I was alright.

It's really hard to say because its really varying.

I was in a considerable amount of pain for the 4-5 days following my operation, even with the Percocets; lingering pain up to 2 weeks after, I was eating a lot of pudding, ice cream, sweet potatoes, etc. My friend got his done and wasn't phased, went out partying the same night. Eating solid food the next day. Gave his Percocets away for free. Phone Post 3.0

Had mine removed last month. Way over hyped IMO. I was eating normal the next day. Only had my top 2 removed so not sure if bottom is worse? But my experience was nothing.

Yeah, bottom tend to be considerably worse. Phone Post 3.0

Then I lucked out because my bottom don't need removed. YES!

I had 2 removed last year, bottom. First one - took 15 seconds, went straight back to work. Secomd - two hours, cutting, bone saw, solid pain for a week after, even on Ketonal. Turned out it was growing flat and was difficult to remove as it was close to the nerve. Good luck. Phone Post 3.0

Got put to sleep for mine, felt like I was asleep for a minute. Woke up and was good to go.

Then I got a dry socket, and so began one of the worst weeks of my life.

Getting your wisdom teeth removed isn't bad, it's the pain in your anal cavity that hurts when you wake up. Phone Post 3.0

I was in a world of hurt

Every one warned me of these dry sockets. Said it's the worst pain they felt. Is it really that bad? And am I in the clear of getting one after a month?

I had mine done in late thirties. All of them were impacted. It wasn't that bad. It sucked for a couple of days but that's about it.

Got all 4 out and was back to normal by the next morning. If you can get someone to pick you up opt for the gas (won't have any memory of the operation or much of the rest of the day, apparently I demanded that I drive home and even though I was as my friend had me buckled in the back.)

It's pretty fucking bad. I've only experienced two things in my life that even came close to it. I was pretty much on percocets for a week straight and it was still just terrible. Was getting at most 2 hours of sleep a night because my whole jaw just hurt so much, pretty much didn't eat at all. Then when the pain finally started going away and I could stop taking pain pills I went through withdrawals for a day, which also sucked.

Mine developed within a day or two, you're pretty much in the clear if it doesn't happen pretty much right away, I think.

My wife had her pulled in high school , and woke up half way through to the dentist screaming about not being able to get a tooth out, and blood all over the place.

But I had it, sucked for a day, and was ok.:) Phone Post 3.0

First, I drove around for an hour looking for the fucking dentist in the woods, this was before General positioning sanction (GPS). I finally found him and he pulled all four teeth. They were growing in sideways and shit and one of them was burrowed into my collar bone.

Surgery went great, but afterward I bled more than a female volleyball team. Had to go back in that night so the "dentist" could stop the bleeding.

It sucked more than Linda Lovelace, but after six weeks of recovery and two months of physical therapy I was good as silver.

You'll do great bro beans, no worries!

The surgery was not too bad. I didn't heed the dentists warning after an went straight to work after. I Drank coffee and smoked cigarettes on the drive back to work which are two big no nos as they can lead to dry socket. Dry socket is a terrible motherfucker like having a major toothache that shoots into your eyes for a week. No warm/hot liquids no smoking, no drinking with a straw. It breaks down the blood clot in the socket that protects the nerve from the environment and slows the healing process.

Follow directions and it should be alright. Phone Post 3.0

I had two of mine removed a few months back. They gave me 3 options. Numb it, knock me out or put me on laughing gas. I choose numbing it. I couldn't feel shit. He broke them and then pulled them. Didn't feel anything. Also I didn't feel any pain after. Maybe I'm a rare exception but it was literally painless. Didn't swell either. Phone Post 3.0

Had all four pulled a few years ago. It wasn't too bad. I booked the next day off work. I could have gone in but decided to milk it and baby myself for a day.

It was actually quite the experience getting them pulled. The dentist just fucking reefs on your teeth. It didn't hurt because I was frozen, but him having his shoulder buried in your chest as he's sweating buckets and grimacing while pulling on your teeth like he was Rocky IV trying to lift up a sack of boulders was a little fucked up.
