Wlad vs. Haye = Lennox vs. Michael Grant ?

 All this hype surrounding Haye , I cant help myself when comparing him to Michael Grant.  A gifted individual who was way over his head.

Lennox = Wlad

Grant = Haye

I see all the makings of Haye getting destroyed tomorrow.  Anything in the sport is possible, but I do not see Haye even making it to the decision.  I really believe that Haye is afraid of losing to Wlad.  Wlad has no fear and is ready to destroy Haye.

If Haye does indeed go down before the 4th round, you will see a thousand websites and forum threads that David Haye was the most overrated / overhyped boxer of this generation.

I'd forgotten how much hype Grant was getting agaist Lewis. He was actually the favorite among U.S. sports writers.

I don't like Haye, but I don't mind his shit talking. If he hadn't been running his mouth non-stop, this fight would likely have gone untelevised in the U.S. like all the other HW title fights for the past couple of years.

The hype of Grant was unbelievable.  I'm just curious in 5 years if David Haye is going to be listed among the names like Michael Grant , Gabriel Gonzaga , David Terrell, Brandon Vera....

 Boxing people knew that grant was a sham at the time. I was at the fight and it was considered a foregone conclusion. Grant didn't start boxing until his 20s and was getting his shit pushed in by Golota until Golota had a panic attack after knocking Grant down 2 or 3 times.

Oddly enough, The same Michael Grant, only 12 years older almost beat the new golden boy Tomascz Adamek when they fought in NJ last year.

Haye is a legit boxer, Grant never was. Wlad is going to win, but there's a 25% chance that Haye could clip a Klit. Grant had no prayer against LL

At least Grant was a real heavy.

Stache - At least Grant was a real heavy.

 I actually like that Haye came in at 213. The all time best HWs were under 225. It may help him with speed and endurance and he's trained with wrestlers and MMA guys to deal with Wlad's jab and grab

 Man, Michael Grant. He was the second dude I ever interviewed and did a story on. I was pretty high on him until the Golota fight when it became apparent they'd better get the money fast before he lost.

What made Grant tough to watch was that in flashes he would do impressive things, very athletic things, and then revert to a tall, lazy-hitting heavyweight with bad habits galore. If he'd had a real amateur career instead of the 12 fight-am career he had he definitely would've been a world champion. But he just didn't have the experience to develop properly.

I kept fath in Grant the best I could but there are tell tale moments when you know a guy is not mentally ready. In his case, it was in one of the final pre-fight press conferences complaining that he couldn't get any of the commission-approved gloves to fit his hands. Lewis said his hands found a pair just fine, and insisted Grant hold his hands up to Lewis - they were the same size. That's when you knew he didn't want to be there.

It went downhill after that, with Grant getting killed by Jameel McCline in a comeback fight and essentially becoming a stepping stone.

The obvious difference between Haye and Grant is the Brit's accomplishments at cruiserweight, not to mention a silver medal in the amateur world championships.

However their fate at heavyweight may well be the same, Haye's WBA strap is financially rewarding but nothing more. I'll be very surprised if he defeats even this weaker-chinned Klitschko.

On a related topic, Haye's supporters (yes my fellow Brits) behaved in a way that Joe Rogan might describe as 'cunty' at the weigh-in. I'll be supporting Wlad tonight.

Does Haye play the piano??? Phone Post

No, but I hear he likes to play the oboe.

Get over yourself fella. They were supporting their fighter and singing songs, like the English do if every other sport.

Get off your high horse.

It's the jeering and disrespect of Klitschko that I had a problem with, not the support. It makes us look like a nation of drunken thick bastards.

It was surreal wathcing Teddy Atlas giving up and screaming at Grant a few years ago.

 At least Grant came to fight.

 lol @ Haye.
