The story about the murdered World War II vet inspired me to tell this story. Sorry if it's a FRAT.
I grew up in a small community, less than 2,000 people between four boroughs. Never any violent crime, just kid stuff, some drunk and disorderly, and petty theft.
Until one day when an 88 year old woman was found by her grass cutter, bound with duct tape clinging to life on the cold tile of her bathroom floor.
She died in the hospital two days later, but not before she identified her attacker.
It was a sophomore at the local high school and the second baseman on my Little League teams.
He was a nice kid - maybe a little ADD - but friendly and from a decent family. However, as he got into high school he had gotten into drugs and dropped out of all school activities.
One night, he and two teenage girls from the local group home went to this lady's house asking to use the phone (pre cell phone era). She knew the boy - he had been her paper boy - so she happily obliged.
They then bound her with duct tape, dragged her to the bathroom upstairs, and left her there while they ransacked the house for money and valuables.
They later said that they were just trying to buy time to get out of town and were sure someone would find her quickly. But nobody did, for more than two cold, hungry, lonely days.
As the ringleader he was tried as an adult and convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to 30 years. Sent to big boys prison at not quite age 17 - a 5'8" 150 pounder with curly blonde locks who had murdered a defenseless old lady. I can only imagine the unspeakable horror visited upon him every day.
Well, he got out on parole ten years later and things didn't get much better. He got back into drugs and was acting as a mule, bringing coke up north from Florida. The cops were onto him, though. They cornered him in a hotel room in North Carolina, where he was grabbing some sleep before finishing the trip. He pointed his gun at his girlfriend and called her a hostage, getting the police to back off.
Ten hours or so later, he released the girl. When she was out of range, he started firing at police. They let loose on the hotel room until the shooting stopped. When they entered the hotel room, they found him slumped dead over a desk with an open brick of coke, Scarface style.

he was about 17 when i met him and 3 or 4 years latter he was arrested for breaking into old women's home (60-80 years old - if i remember correctly about 5 of them) and making them watch him jerk off in their underwear
the last old lady tried to make him stop and he pushed her down and she broke her leg and he got arrested shortly after that
close second was a guy i worked with for like 2 months was a jail bird he had just gotten out of jail for his second time and apparently he didn't like living on the outside so he went to a local bank and waited until they were open and walked in with like 20 band aids on his face as his disguise and robbed the place. he had made sure to pick a bank on a busy road and made himself very visible so the cops were waiting for him when he walked out of the bank.
Brother's kid e-mailed a dick pic to a girl he met on line. The pic included his face. He was 23, she was 14.
He's in jail now.
Guy I went to HS wuth: crazy, tough kid. Allegedly raped an 8 year old while high on angel dust or something like that. Didnt really know him at all.

i believe the guy died not long after he got out of jail i think suicide
a kid from my second grade class watched his father beat his mother to a bloody death with a baseball bat....the mother was also a teacher at our school...so it was really crazy when we were told what happened
Guy used to work out at the same gym as me blinded his girlfriend by gouging out her eyes with his thumbs. He then left her in bed with her eyes hanging on her cheeks and watched tv for several hours before eventually letting her call an ambulance. 
High school friend banged an under age girl. Did four years.
Couldn't resist the sweet young tang and did it again after he got out. He was damn near 30 and he slept with a 15/16 year old. He's back in jail now, don't know or care for how long.
Murder and dismemberment over drugs and money
My wife's new step mom has a 17 year old and a 15 year old. The 15 year old beat the 17 year Olds dog to death with a umbrella. He did about a week in juvenile detention.
At a gym I used to work out at two guys got into an argument over who was next to use a machine. They started shoving each other and a couple of us broke it up. One left, he went out to his car and came back in with a baseball bat and beat the crap out of the other guy before anyone could stop him.
A horrible horrible murder, and that's all I have to say about that.
best friend killed himself leaving a wife and 3 kids all under 14 years old (not the wife).

Three suspects charged in death of Oakdale man

(AP) -- Two young men and a 15-year-old boy from Minnesota were accused Monday of helping kill a man whose beaten body was found on a logging trail a few hours after he had been at a casino.Noah C. White III, 19, of Red Wing, Minn., and Arlo W. White, 22, and Jeffrey D. Burr, 15, both of Welch, Minn., were charged in Pepin County Circuit Court with first-degree intentional homicide. Burr was charged as an adult.The charge carries a mandatory life prison sentence.The three also were charged with aggravated battery and false imprisonment in the death of Ronald J. Ross of Oakdale, Minn., the criminal complaint said.Ross, 51, had been at the Treasure Island Resort and Casino near Red Wing a few hours before loggers found his partially clothed body shortly after 7 a.m. March 9 on a trail off Highway J about three miles south of Lund, authorities said.Ross was beaten and kicked, and died of a combination of head trauma and exposure, according to medical reports.Debra White, who lives on Highway J, said Monday she is the aunt of Arlo and Noah White, but she declined to comment on the case. Her home is a short distance from where Ross' body was found.Pepin County Sheriff John Andrews said the investigation of Ross' death continues and more people could be charged."We're still going through information and evidence, and there's a good chance more people are involved with what happened," Andrews said.Andrews said as far as he knows, the suspects did not know Ross.Ross was found without identification. I just read some google news accounts about this murder and I'm impressed with how close I came with the details from memory almost 30 years later!

Jurors returned a guilty verdict Wednesday in the case of a Las Vegas man charged in a murder-for-hire plot involving a lesbian love triangle.
Jurors found Luis Barroso, 25, guilty of 10 felony charges, including first-degree murder, sexual assault and kidnapping charges.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Frank Coumou said the state plans to argue for Barroso's execution when a penalty phase begins in the case on Feb. 20.
Tzatzi Sanchez, 27, a student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, was found strangled in her home near Nellis Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue on Jan. 15, 2001. Prosecutors say Sanchez's former lover hired Barroso to kill her after she began a relationship with another woman.
During a trial last week before District Judge Nancy Saitta, prosecutors argued that Barroso and a man named Omed Marroquin broke into Sanchez's home through a window and tied up Sanchez and two men they found there. Sanchez was gagged and sexually assaulted before being strangled.
Marroquin will stand trial at the conclusion of Barroso's case. Marsella Whaley, the woman authorities say orchestrated the killing, fled to Mexico. Authorities there refused to extradite her back to the United States.
I never met him but he is my grandfather. One day my mom received a phone call that her mother was dead, it turns out my grandfather got shit drunk and his friends started making fun of him about his wife. They where telling him that his wife was sexing a man they called Changa(female monkey), his friends where just capping on him. He got so pissed off he went home grabbed his shotgun and shot my grandmother in the stomach a few times.
Good friend in high school/ middle school. Sat next to each other on bus during soccer and wrestling season. Recently found out he is facing murder 2 for killing a guy with a garden tool. Never saw it coming and feel sad because he's a young guy with a world of potential who has essentially thrown his life away.
One intentionally drove a car into a crowd of people killing 3 of them. Then a few years before that a guy who was more an acquaintance than a friend set fire to someones house and ended up killing a little girl as a result.
My uncle shot someone point blank in the neck with a .357. Over a drug deal gone bad. The guy lives. and my uncle is sent to prison for attempted murder.
