I'll go with Takada vs. Mike Bernardo in Inoki.
Went the distance, resulted in a draw, and the fighters barely touched each other.
severn vs shamrock 2, anyone?
Tito vs. Machida- UFC
Machida spends 3 rounds staying away from the power of Tito (which is non-existent.) and leg kicking him.
I have never been more irritated watching a fight.
Tito wanted to throw and Machida was a giant pussy.
KenFlo=#1P4P - severn vs shamrock 2, anyone?
That has to be it especially given that it was the main event.
The only other fights I could see as contenders are ones like Coleman-Fujita, Couture-Belfort II and Fedor-TK I. They may have been just as dissatisfying but easier (as in shorter) to watch.
Shamrock vs Severn
Tom O Bedlam - Tito vs. Machida- UFC

are you crazy?
that fight was some awesome strategy
even my mom enjoyed it! lol
Royce vs Shamrock superfight were Shamrock stalled until the time ran out. There wasn't much super about it.

I know some people couldn't appreciate the skills displayed in that fight, but if you think that was the worst fight in MMA history, you haven't seen much MMA.
If all that had happened in that fight was Tito throwing up that triangle, that already makes that fight more entertaining than many.
LOL what Strategy?
To Kalib Starnes his way around the ring the entire fight?
Machida (in my opinion) completely wasted the opportunity to tool Tito in the stand up game. Machida could have easily finished Tito and instead chose to hit and run.
Machida wasted the chance to dominate and showed that he actually WANTED a decision.
In my opinion that is the lamest thing any fighter could do.
If you try to finish your opponent and can't, at least you tried. If you just don't even try- find another profession.
Also GA. I have seen plenty of MMA. And the only time I was more disappointed in a fight was Starnes/Quarry.
I appreciate that technical ability is only good if you can finish an opponent.
If not... you just need to stick to Karate Tourneys that use point systems.
he didn't run like kalib did
there's using angles beautifully and counter punching and then there is running and avoiding the fight completely.
they are different things
machida makes a fight different than what we are used to
some people appreciate the art he puts into it, while others don't understand and get frustrated by it
Atleast with Shamrock and Severn 2 as boring as it was (yes it was painful watching live) atleast at the end fists did fly. The worst I can think of would have to be Pat M. fighting Mikey Burnett and grabbing his shorts for the entire fight and somehow winning the decision. Pat is a great trainer and great fighter no doubt about it, but that was pretty bad, I always assumed he must of got injured early on.
lol @ using this thread to bring up Machida - Tito AGAIN.
I'm calling bull shit.
Chuck Liddell (as much as I hate him) is a perfect example of how you can use angles and counter-punching and still be aggressive and go for the finish.
Roy Jones Jr. used angles and counter-punching and he was still aggressive and finished fights.
Anderson Silva is another example.
GSP is another.
That fight was boring. I appreciate that Machida was technical, but, to what end? To pot-shot and point his way to a decision. Instead he should have been trying to put away an MMA Icon.
I would like to remind you that it's my opinion and only that. I am not stating that it's a fact.
Quarry vs. Starnes for the obvious reasons.
Severn vs. Shannon Ritch, I'm not a big fan of worked fights.
"I appreciate that technical ability is only good if you can finish an opponent."
seriously?
Machida did try to finish Tito. Tito isn't exactly easy to put away.
Local amateur 'title' fight
Promoter's 16 year old son defends his 'title' against a 17 year old kid whose older brother had competed once.
The 16 yr old champ is a state class HS wrestler, takes other kid down, takes back, secures hooks, punches once (side of the face)... 17 year old kid taps out.
Promoter/dad runs into the cage to celebrate with his son... AND STILL LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION OF HIS DADDY'S ORG....
I don't know what else to say...
I just don't agree.
I would also say that Fedor/Nog 2 was one of the most boring fights I've ever watched as well.
Rizzo/Randleman (UFC 26, I think) was pretty awful. It was 5 rounds of circling and shadowboxing. For the title, no less. Ugh.
