Not a chance that Barnett vs JDS looks like JDS vs Mir.
They might have similar styles but they are COMPLETELY different fighters.
Barnett vs JDS would be very, very competitive. If Barnett could get Junior down then he would be in a lot of trouble.
People have said this about JDS but I bet Junior is a beast on the ground. JDS is super strong and agile.
JDS is a brown belt in BJJ if I remember correctly. But this is Josh Barnett we are talking about. If JDS fought Barnett and the fight hit the floor, JDS would get manhandled. Sure, JDS is probably good on the ground but when you take into account that his only loss was by submission (armbar) and we haven't seen a lot of his ground game I think it's pretty safe to say that Barnett would "big-brother" him on the mat.
this...
Has Josh ever been submitted?
Technically when he lost to Cro Cop because of his injury that was a "submission" but otherwise no, Barnett has never been traditionally submitted in his entire career and considering the fighters he has faced, that is astonishing.
JDS takes this by a one sided decision I think.Dont think Barnett would get this to the ground, although it would be hard for JDS to finish him.Maybe a late TKO.Josh is a great fighter, just can't see JDS losing to him.
indianrob - I think Barnett gets boxed up on route to being k.o.
unfortunately yes. I see him shooting for takedowns to no avail and being forced to stand with JDS and finally eating a lighting uppercut and stumbling around like a dumpy white oaf till he finally crumbles. I don't like it but can't see it going any other way.
I don't see a good pathway to a Barnett win. Could Barnett outstrike JDS? Possible but improbable. Could Barnett take him down? He has a better chance with that, but on the other hand Barnett's not a great takedown guy. Could he keep JDS down if he got him to the ground? Unlikely.
What's more likely is that JDS uses his speed, boxing, and foot work to keep Barnett at range and tag him over and over again until JDS draws blood and pounces in for the kill.
As you can see in the video, he easily sweeps Ferreira and gets on top. Gets complacent, and gives up an arm. Ferreira hangs on to it tight as JDS rolls and tries to escape. This was after he had beat the shit out of him in their first match and Ferreira tapped out due to exhaustion.
Ferreira is the type of guy who is dangerous for the first two minutes and then that is pretty much it. JDS made a rookie mistake in his 6th fight. One he has not made since.
Love to see one or two UFC fights with Barnett in it before matching with JDS. But an absolute hell yes to seeing Barnett and Cormier in the heavyweight mix in the UFC.

I don't understand? What does that have to do with anything?
I think Barnett would give JDS a decent fight. I'm not sure if he would be able to get Junior to the ground, but it's not out of the question obviously.
I doubt JDS would be shooting for take downs on Josh.

I think Barnett makes it ugly and JDS wouldn't like it.
