If DC wins he beats the GOAT HW (exept maybe Fedor) who is in his prime. I would say that makes DC the GOAT. Jon Jones disqualified himself for getting busted twice with PED's.
I think it makes DC one of the all time greats. DC will even tell you he lost to jones, and never made an excuse for jones popping. It just leaves that little linger of doubt of what could have happened if jones was clean. I mean, he didn’t need it. He should be the all time GOAT at this point, but he can’t keep his nose clean. So in my opinion, even with Jones being a cheater, DC will always have that on his mind, even if the fans don’t.
Will always be questionable. Although I personally feel DC is the greatest LHW, and a win over Miocic should 100% make him the greatest P4P fighter of all time, it’ll be difficult in 50 years from now to excuse 2 losses to the same fighter in 2 different periods.

So now he’s 100% the GOAT if he wins?
Wonder who the GOAT will be next week? Or the week after that?
He can’t be the greatest if there’s a man out there he cant beat, cocain, steroids or otherwise. A roided fighter never lost before? C’mon.
Beating Stipe will cement DC’s legacy. It won’t erase two losses to the same man. I hope we see Bones two or three more times before he’s out of his prime. Steroid accusations or not; that fighter is special.
My first reaction was “no”. I think Cormier is defined largely by his matches with Jones. They were the clear two best guys and there was a lot of animosity and Jones beat him convincingly both times. However, at a certain juncture in Randy and Chuck’s careers I would have said that about them as well. Even though Randy lost the trilogy he went on to do a lot of great things and they did add to his legacy and broaden the way his career is viewed, instead of looking at it more narrowly and giving his trilogy with Chuck as much weight as it deserved right after their third fight. Cormier is old though. I think if he beats Stipe it will help him a lot. If he can defend the HW belt once or twice then maybe he can “pull a Randy” and get away from having his legacy be so attached to a couple losses to the same guy. If Cormier can beat Stipe and then defend a couple times, or get Jones back in the ring and beat him, or both, then yeah, he can distance himself from the Jones losses.
Jones used performance enhancing drugs to enhance his performance against DC, why can know one understand that. If DC wins vs Stipe, he will go down as having a more memorial career than Jones.

Both fighters were clean for their first fight. If you’re going to assume Jones was dirty, and just got lucky and passed tests, we can also assume DC cheated for both fights. Especially considering his suspicious t-levels
