that was my status update on facebook and my buddy (probably ranked top 10 in the world in Greco Roman) got pretty offended. Was I out of line?
No, it's the Internet. You're allowed to say things that make you look stupid.
well, you basically said his sport of choice is simpler and easier than another type of grappling. he's probably put a lot of work and sacrifice into it if he's really top ten in the world, so its understandable that he might feel insulted, especially if you're actually friends. people take that stuff harder coming from people they respect or care about.
Just because wrestling doesn't have submissions, doesn't mean that it's not equally deep and complex as jiujitsu.

Just curious, what inspired you to make that statement?
Another blue belt who'd get tooled by a wrestler trying to boost his self-esteem.
Apparently you're a fan that does neither, or you'd know better than to say something that stupid.
I guess another way to look at it is wrestling is like athletics, jiu jitsu is like lawn bowls.
wrestling is like a delicious neapolitan ice cream, jits is like a baby goat.
lol try to fight him
then update your status
jacobdoerr is the unfortunate victim of an insular Jiu Jitsu culture where fresh white belts congratulate themselves for the victories of those who came before them. He knows only what he has been told within this culture, and he has been told that Jiu Jitsu is inherently superior to wrestling. To confirm this he scoured the world. But rather than seeking out impartial sources, he made his inquiries only within the small pockets of culture that would bounce his own beliefs right back at him.
After hearing these ideas of superiority echoed enough times they shaped his view of the world. Finally, knowing his beliefs to be true, he decided to take a stand and evangelize, preaching outside the walls of the cultural echo chambers. That's when he made the decision to post on Facebook.

Your friend should slap himself for associating with you
I used to be a chess snob, then I was taught a lesson and only play checkers now. Same game, less variables which makes it harder, not easier.

TTT
any decent wrestler would smash most brown belts on the ground. That is a FACT!

Nice.
I think the analogy is correct if your comparing the technical aspects of the 2 sports. Bjj is much more technical and wrestling is more athletic attribute based. This is totally true. You can make it to the top of Bjj without being the best athlete out there, but you will NEVER make it to that level in wrestling without being a amazing athlete.
Now I am not trying to debate the effectiveness of either of the two in a MMA setting. Just the level of technicality in them.

I think not, unless by decent you mean world class.
You making a retard comment to go with the OP's is only making you both look like retards. Perhaps you guys can combine and come up with something sensible.
