You are a serious idiot for making that statement. Chael only said that becasue he kept getting submitted. Did Chael say that same thing when he submitted Brian Stann? Was Chael a coward for submitting someone? Idiot!

Admit I was trolling but my part about ass beating was not. How Diego best his ass by arm barring him? When I grapple with good bjj guys sure i will get caught in subs here and there but it's a sure thing the other guy will be the one who wakes up the next morning feeling like he got jumped by 10 people. This is a sport not real life or death combat. Bjj guys live in denial and always say "oh well if you didn't tap I'd have choked you to death or broke your arm". Guess what man that will never happen because both are sports with rules. If some bjj guy wants to kill me I'm not gonna use my wrestling to prove anything I'm gonna shoot you or use whatever weapon I can. And if I had no choice I like my chances in life or death. Getting spiked onto a mat is different than getting smashed into cement. No you won't hold onto that choke or arm bar. So I hope u sleep well at night knowing you made me tap your hand doing no damage and I wore out your whole body with wrestling and put your teeth through your lip with cross faces. End rant/ Phone Post

Epitome of what a internet tough guy is. I'm sure if put more time in, you'll only get tapped ninety-nine times instead of one hundred times by that fifteen year-old. Phone Post

Twenty47 - Hipsters gonna hip. Bjj is for limp wristed faggots. Phone Post

Insecure much Phone Post

O btw there a million examples of wrestling beating Bjj. Munoz vs Maia for one. Both are great bases. I'd say wrestling is the best IMO but you can be successful using any martial art. Phone Post

Considering Munoz is a purple belt who trains BJJ every day for years now and Maia is a BJJ guy who has been bringing in great wrestlers to train him for years now.......that isnt really a good example.

jerky66 - You named a bunch of wrestlers who are not champs. On top of that name a wrestler that uses the stuff.

Edgar- Stands and boxes
GSP- Did not come from a wrestling background even though the nuthuggers try to claim he did
Anderson Silva = Muay Thai and BJJ
JDS= BJJ & Boxing
Jones - Where did he Wrestle?

You got the majority of current champs who did not come from a wrestling background and still smoke these wrestlers.

Diego also proved that a BJJ expert will destroy a high level wrestler every time.

You are headed towards going full retard.

You sound like a full retard with that statement dumb ass.

I just think its amazing that no matter what happens people like you will still keep hugging nuts. Out of all of the combat styles in MMA wrestling is by far the worst and it gets proven again and again. Efrain Escadero and Burmudez both had to learn that lesson. Wrestling is nowhere near the best base that is just nonsense. There is no best base. They all have there attributes.

Here is why wrestlers do well. It is because they come in with a halfway descent ground game with takedowns and are some of the best athletes in the world. If you make it through a wrestling program at Iowa or Oklahoma I think it is safe to say you are a better athlete than most. On top of that some of the ones coming into MMA are the best in those programs. It is not the best base it is because of their athleticism. Matt Mitrione proves that point. He came in with nothing but pure athleticism and was able to pick things up very fast. It is because he is a top level athlete who played in the NFL. He does very well and grew up with very little matial arts.

So 3/5 of the champs you listed (sorry, but GSP has NCAA level takedowns, and uses them to win) are wrestling based.......and you say I am the retard? Mitrione proved as soon as he fights anyone willing to do any grappling (Kongo) he suddenly isnt so great.

I do love how you children who have some mild exposure to MMA would call someone like me a "nuthugger" of wrestlers (which is retarded to say) when I am a kickboxer/BJJ guy (14+ years BJJ, Brown belt) who's only exposure to wrestling is cross training with NCAA wrestlers doing takedowns for the past 15 years. I dont have a dog in the fight, I just call things as I see them. Some wrestlers (by wrestler I mean NCAA D1 starters, not the HS al bundy's on the UG) who listen and want to excel at all grappling, will. THose same ones if they have the proper temprament and frame of mind will also learn boxing and kickboxing very fast.

Douche bags like twenty47 or what not will just try to rationalize his getting tapped over and over to "he wont the fight" in training (sounds like he is a meat head who likes to crossface full contact and roll like an idiot, where I train, he would get KTFO'd and sent on home) because they were decent HS wrestlers and cannot move forward.

All that aside, I know a hell of alot more than you about BJJ and MMA, and despite my exposure to wrestling being more a supplementary nature than main training, I know alot more about it than you do too. Here is what I can tell you, the person with the physical traits/training background/time on the mat to be a NCAA D1 Starter is going to have the best start in MMA of an adult entering it you can get. Period.

Twenty47 - I get tapped like 2-3 times a practice and i roll with a brownbelt in my weightclass almost every time try again. ive been including bjj into my training for the last 5 years. 90% of the people who participate in bjj have no idea how to push themselves are better off playing xbox live every night. and ive rolled at some of the best gyms in chicagoland. Maybe im just biased because chicago produces some of the best wrestlers in the nation so im exposed to that. im sure in other areas bjj guys think wrestling is a joke. they sure dont in chicago. submission grappling tourneys are dominated by wrestlers and it isnt even funny here.

Where did you wrestle in college at? As for sub grappling tourneys being dominated by wrestlers, you mean the ones who train at BJJ/sub grappling gyms all the time now who used to wrestle competitively, or the guys who only wrestle and just enter sub grappling comp to pass the time?

Maybe you know more than I do thats fine. All I have ever done is BJJ. Saying GSP is a wrestler because he has NCAA level takedowns is flawed though. Thats like saying Matt Hughes is a BJJ guy because he pulls off high level submissions.

Im still not seeing wrestling as the best base or any other art for that matter. I would still think you would be better off being an expert at an art that finishes fights but thats my opinion. Im not exactly Greg Jackson so take that for what you will. No one has yet to answer my Mitrione question. That shows it just high level athletics and not just wrestling.

What about the Martin Kampmann example. He stuff all Diegos NCAA takedowns and Diego left the cage with a face like the elephant man. Martin Kampmann has a striking base. That decision was crap by the way.

Badr Hari is one of the best overall strikers in the world. He is training grappling right now to enter MMA. If he comes in able to stuff takedowns a lot of wrestlers will be laying on the canvas knocked out cold. Then everyone will be saying Muay Thai is the best base art.

I would love to see his answer on this. This Twenty47 kid is obviously full of it. You can tell by the weird nonsense he types.

I guarantee there are no wrestlers just going to compete in a grappling tournament in Chicago or anywhere else. These are most likely people who used to wrestle and have been training BJJ for years.

Answer another question. Gi or no gi? A lot of high level BJJ guys do not enter no gi while the guy who started in wrestling do.

Name the tournament where the majority of the winnners were wrestlers. I bet you cant because your full of it Twenty47

^Kampman has been training his wrestling and grappling for a very long time at a very high level gym, and diego is a high school level wrestler^

Mitrione fights at HW, where the pool of athletic talent is ankle deep. Kongo, who is pretty much a gate keeper dominated him by simply.....wrestling him a bit.

Wrestling gives you the ability to dictate where and how a fight takes place, and to better counter a guy who wants to dictate it to you. All the kickboxing in the world is shit if you cant stay standing, and BJJ is pretty much useless if you cant take a guy down.

I think good Judo guys would have a great base as well, but we just dont see many of them, the few we see tend to be out of their prime and far removed from their Judo weight classes. I agree with you on the tone "Wrestling is the BEST BASE" is off a bit, because people say this as if every doofus who won a HS conference wrestling title is some gift to MMA, and disregard alot of the wrestlers who do well in MMA are ELITE level wrestlers with elite level athletic ability. But the core skills they have developed wrestling D1 translate largely directly over to MMA, cant say the same about football.

This is one of the things I was getting at. They act like every wrestler is Mark Munoz or something. Gets annoying as hell.

Your take on judo is interesting. I have been thinking about training that for years.
