Great article about Kimbo

who? Isn't that a porn guy?
ttt
I am pretty much in the same boat as this writer. I mean of all the main events to have for a debut your show as well as showing the new fans what MMA is you would have Kimbo doing that for you? I would of at least held of Cung Le v Shamrock on this card...
But I agree with this writer when he says:
" If this is, indeed, the most important card in the history of the sport, wouldn't it be nice if it actually had some of the best fighters and best representatives of mixed martial arts?
Anderson Silva, B.J. Penn and Georges St. Pierre display what MMA is all about. Not menacing scowls and WWE-like personas, but unreal athletic ability, disciplined training and tremendous intelligence from fighters as multi-skilled as they are fearless. "
It may turn out to be entertaining but i dont think it will do it any justice...but thats me
I feel likes CBC cheats viewers by bringing inferior promotion to introduce MMA.
Everyone knows who is the #1, and who deserves to be on Network TV.
I hope Elite XC will be a minor success and for once will pave the way for the UFC to major network.
Birdman I do agree with you, they have alot of talented fighters on their payroll. Using an unproven up and coming Kimbo who they are billing as an "internet street fighting sensation" will only set the sport back...
Kevin Wetzel is an idiot. There is quite a few ridiculous statements in that article. The way he was talking about the card as if there is no world class fighters. That douchey little weasel needs to tell that to Robbie Lawler or Phil Baroni. That guy knows so little about the sport that he doesnt realize the talent that will be there besides Kimbo.
And Kimbo is the main event because people want to see him. The guy also doesnt realize that Kimbo has only had two fights. He is calling for him to fight top notch opponents at this early stage of his career.
Wetzel is a moron and so is anyone who enjoyed hat article. Dana White fluff piece.
good article.
He makes a good point how the Kimbo pushing "plays to MMA's difficult-to-shake reputation as 'human cockfighting'".
The rest about DW is just lazy journalism, one-source nonsense.
"Anderson Silva, B.J. Penn and Georges St. Pierre display what MMA is all about. Not menacing scowls and WWE-like personas, but unreal athletic ability, disciplined training and tremendous intelligence from fighters as multi-skilled as they are fearless. "
That is a great line.
Not really. A blood licker, unreal athletic ability and tremendous intelligence or not, is a bad example of a non-WWE like persona. But I guess a UFC source can't use Couture to illustrate a point.
Btw, that's a put down to the text, not Penn.
Another take on Kimbo from MSNBC that to me is a little more balanced: http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/24682027/
