SENGOKU Sign Top BJJ Player! “Xande” Enters MMA

Alexandre “Xande” Ribeiro has signed with SENGOKU and will make his debut at SENGOKU V according to ADCombat.com. Xande is one of the best in BJJ right now, he recently defeated Roger Gracie in the finals of the 2008 Mundials Open-Weight class. He has won the Open-Weight class in the Mundials two times (2006 & 2008), the Heavyweight class four times (2004, 2006-2008), and the 98 kg class in ADCC one time (2007). He is the younger brother of MMA veteran Saulo Ribeiro, whose sole MMA loss came against Yuki Kondo in 2000.

TTT

Let's hope he's as successful as Saulo was seeing as Saulo's only MMA loss came at the hands of Yuki Kondo.

his brother is teaching him how to shoot Brazilian style

I remember meeting Xande back in 2001 at his academy in Ccopacabana na Rua Barata Ribeiro.  He told me that in MMA, Jiu Jitsu is the nucleus and onto that you add things like boxing.

Based on what he told me seven years ago, I would say his strategy will be to hit, hit, clinch, take down and submit.

Jiu Jitsu!!!!!!!!

Donkey Kong - I can't seem to get excited for these SUPER PHENOMENAL BJJ guys anymore they seem to be a dime a dozen in brazil.

 LOL!

are you serious or being sarcastic?

lol

anyway, this is awesome that xande's going to be doing mma!

though, him being in sengoku is ehh

sometimes I wish sengoku would fuck off so the few big names they have could fight someone of worth, but I guess they're acquiring big name slowly but surely?

Cool news. Hopefully, he finds some good stand up and wrestling instructors to help with his transition to MMA.
