If your name is Elizabeth Gallagher and you have a Canadian passport, you just might be in luck.
Twenty-seven-year-old Jordan Axani’s Reddit post about giving away a ticket for a trip around the world has gone viral since he posted it yesterday.
Axani broke up with his girlfriend in March after booking the trip for this Christmas.
“I am still planning on going on the trip and she is not (naturally),” Axani says in the post.
“And because I hate the idea of a ticket around the world going to waste, I am looking for a Canadian named Elizabeth Gallagher who could use the ticket.”
His only requirement is that applicants are named Elizabeth Gallagher and have a Canadian passport.
“Anyone familiar with the archaic system that is modern air travel will know that a name change on a ticket is damn near impossible,” he said.
Axani also made it clear that he is not looking for any kind of romance, he just wants a companion on the trip.
The trip itinerary includes stops in Milan, Paris, Bangkok and New Delhi.
Since the post, Axani has received an outpouring of Elizabeth Gallaghers coming forward. The most popular comment, as of this writing, is from a user named homeharmony. It reads:
“Hi, My name is Liz ( Elizabeth) Gallagher. I’m Canadian … But I’m old enough to be his Mom. If there’s no younger person to step up I’d have to say it would be interesting. My girls (25 and 23) tell me DO IT MOM! They wish now that they had my name.”
Responses to the comment have been positive, with other users urging this Ms. Gallagher to reach out to Mr. Axani. He commented himself, saying her comment was “awesome” and urging her to email him.
He has also asked that people respect the privacy of the real Elizabeth Gallagher.
