you have never fought in more than one weight class.....
period...
I don't think that is what it means. I look at it more along the lines of who is the most skilled, period.
Take out the "this guy is stronger so he'd win" and just think of talent.
Wont argue with that...
actually yes it is.....
Aldo shouldn't be p4p?
Jon Jones?
Cain V?
Frankie Edgar?
No way!!! It means that you are the best for your weight. That is why I think fedor is/was he was smaller than his opponents but still won.
saturday night's alright for trolling
i think it is....especially with as much weight as some of these guys cut.....if these guys were the best "realative to their weight" why do they cut?....
so it woudl seem they are the best" realative to a smaller weight"...
snookasuperfly - P4P simply means the fighter who is the best relative to their weight.
Fighting in multiple weight classes can help prove this case, but it's certainly not mandatory.
I agree with this dude, oddly.
Dream Crusher - No way!!! It means that you are the best for your weight. That is why I think fedor is/was he was smaller than his opponents but still won.![]()
No one else got an LOL out of this one?
You would think at least the fighters would know what P4P was but apparently even they are clueless.
P4P means that the fighter would be good in any weight class it's all based on talent
snookasuperfly - P4P simply means the fighter who is the best relative to their weight.^ Exactly. Would have thought someone with a pro fight under their belt would have known this. P4P is equivalent to saying this fighter is the best 185 pound fighter in the world. There is no 185 pound fighter better than them.
Fighting in multiple weight classes can help prove this case, but it's certainly not mandatory.
I guess some people are butt-hurt over last weekends fights and realize nothing they do in life will come close to what others accomplished years and years ago...
You know what felt strange? Watching Anderson Silva call BJ Penn one of the top 2 pound for pound fighters in the world when he was sitting right next to Frankie Edgar.
The Elastic Assassin - you have never fought in more than one weight class.....
period...
u a funny dude mate
so by your definition any advantage gained by size is nullified...this eliminates alot of teh people commonly listed as teh best p4p...like GSP and aldo...
guys like pac man, bj penn, couture, fedor..these are people that soudl be talked about

uhm, and Fedor fought how many times outside of the HW class again? Sorry, but what you are proposing as the def of the pound for pound definition is not correct. Hell you would have to take out half of the guys in mma from any contention if that is the case.
heavy weight is its own animal.....i thnk most people agree that fedor SHOULD be fighting 205...you can make weight as a heavy and still be giving up 45 lbs.......that's basically 3 weight classes....
fedor CHOSES this because he feels his style and skill make up for that......hence p4p he's one of the best, becasue he has proven that to be fact....
Take out the size advantages and just focus on skills. Who is the best fighter, not who is the strongest or whatever. I can't believe this is really all that confusing.
