UFC should start a 165lbs & 195lbs weight class…

Fight me…

They need to dump all WMMA, and get people who can make weight, show up to fights, and defend their titles after they win them before they do any expanding.

First 220.

195 would wreck the already weak 185 and 205 divisions. Probably just end up with Adesanya holding both belts simultaneously.

165 has been the best option for some time now. They should just hire about 20 more guys around that weight class to fight in the ufc, in a way there’d be less wmma.

Stop WMMA and start a men’s 225lb division.

These weight classes were made when MMA was a fringe sport. It is no longer that and needs to be fixed!

It makes no sense to further divide heavyweight when most of the best heavyweights have been small or medium sized. Huge heavyweights like Lesnar and Ngannou have won belts, but have not dominated the sport.

If you made a 225 pound weight class, medium-sized heavyweights could fight there easily. Fighters cut weight. You want Stipe and Gane in a different weight class than Ngannou? Why? Gane stands a good chance of beating Ngannou, and Stipe has already done so. You want a different weight class for Cain and Lesnar? Why? Size is not an unmitigated advantage once you get that big.

If anything, they should combine 205 and 265. 205 pounders are already guys who weigh 220+ in the ring, and historically, when the 205 champ fights the heavyweight champ, the 205 champ wins.

If anything they should look into combining divisions. 125 has always been weak and half the top fighters struggle to make weight anyway.

Also 205 should be called cruiserweight.

I’ve always believed there should be a weight class every 5 pounds.

Maybe every 2 pounds perhaps?

Just think every single fight on a PPV could be a title fight!

What a great idea. Maybe we could also start having “Regular” champions and “Super” champions as well. Then you have endless Title Unification fights, and after the fight the winner is the Super Champion, and the Regular championship is vacant again.

It’s the most basic business formula that always works, oversaturation = better product

A 220lb weight class is so ridiculous. Is it gonna be a weight class for 10 guys? Heavyweight is already pretty thin because 205lbs has huge guys in it that can make that weight. What percent of the population do you think is as big as Johnny Walker? And he’s not even in the heaviest division. All the top 10 HW’s of all time could make 220, so the other weight class would be for a bunch of fat guys that would lose to the 220 guy. It’d be almost a guaranteed double champ. Even a huge HW like Francis has weighed in the low 250’s without having to manage his weight, he could easily make 220 with probably a small cut. It’s the worst suggestion that keeps getting thrown around on here.

No they shouldn’t. That’s why boxing sucks. Too many belts and divisions. It’s deludes the roster too much

More 220 lb guys will want to fight if they don’t have to get to 205 or fight a 260 lb guy. If you make it, they will come.

These weight classes where made when MMA was still a fringe sport, their CLEARLY needs to be more weight classes. Between 170lbs and 265lbs their’s only 4 weight classes

Fuck diluting the sport any further.
