Daton Fix takes silver. Dake wins his third world championship–first at an Olympic weight. Taylor v. Yazdani finals coming up. Gwiz wrestling for bronze.
Burroughs in the finals for tomorrow. Looks great. Gilman in the finals, as well.
I saw a vid recently of Cox warming up on the mat and it looked like he was sliding around on ice. The way that guy moves, especially for his size is incredible.
Those top 4-5 guys with Taylor are all capable of beating each other at any point. Taylor had a couple razor thin matches at the Olympics.
It’s who’s having the best weekend pretty much. Who peaked properly and had the best weight cut. Little shit adds up when everyone is that good. Everyone is competing injured in at least some way as well.
Thoughts on dake? He won but read he was far from dominant and didn’t look great. And none of the good people in his weight class were there from multiple countries
Taylor looked flat against Yazdani. Got to be a big come down from winning the Olympics in August and the wrestling at Worlds in October. Sure his training wasn’t on point as it typically would be for the World Championships. Props to Yazdani. Makes a good storyline for 2022
He’s a three time world champion, and an Olympic bronze medalist. He has wins over multiple world and Olympic champions including Chamizo, Burroughs, and Taylor.
Commentator just called Taylor v Yazdani from yesterday the “match of the century.” That’s a wild stretch considering they just wrestled at the damn Olympics and it was their 5th match.
