I've seen people claim Conor has no boxing experience. That this fight is akin to James Toney fighting Randy Couture. Toney had zero experience in MMA.
While it's fair to say McGregor has no professional boxing experience - the truth is, long before Conor ever stepped foot in SBG, he was a reasonably accomplished amateur boxer at Crumlin Boxing Club.
Crumlin is a successful boxing gym headed by 2-time olympian Phil Sutcliffe and has produced dozens of champions and regional and national level.
During his time in Crumlin Boxing Club from the age of 11 - 17, Conor won a regional Dublin boxing title in 2006 and had about 40 amateur bouts to his name.
A few other points to consider.
Floyd and Conor have one thing in common - they both have uncanny reach for their height. Most people around their height average at around 68-70 inches on reach, while Floyd has a 72 inch reach in contrast to Conor's 74 inches.
Floyd with the exception of one fight (Oscar Dela Hoya), has never given up reach against an opponent. And he has never fought someone as rangy as Conor.
With all that said, I expect Mayweather to spend the first 2 rounds figuring Conor out, and then TKO'ing Conor around the 5th or 6th round after Conor gasses out of frustration.
The best case scenario for him is that he lands a few shots on Mayweather, and doesn't look completely out of his depths.
And now, here are Chris Algieri and Tracy Lee....

good post
People go on about Conor's boxing experience, but it was a lifetime ago.
He's a mixed martial artist now, not a boxer. Technically speaking, he'd get tuned up by amateur fighters in their late teens.
His style does not lend it's self to boxing one bit.

It's not as if he stopped boxing. He's still been hitting pads, bags and sparring some good amateur boxers like Conor Wallace who's a 6-time national champion.

Yeah, that's not remotely close to working full-time in a dedicated boxing gym. This is an epic mismatch, and I can't believe the NSAC is letting it happen.

That's a strawman argument. I never claimed he was working full-time in a dedicated boxing gym. I said he's not stopped boxing.
He is a mixed martial artist, but he is also a boxer.
And yes, I agree with you it's a complete mismatch. But that's besides the point. It's what people want to see, so ultimately - who gives a fuck?
I think Conor will train hard and his cardio will be on point. Conor will try to land but miss a lot then get frustrated. He'll play defense to not get knocked out and embarrassed. They will go the distance. Get paid.
Floyd is the best fighter ever to lace 'em up ! Conor won't stand a snowball's chance in Hell of even touching him. Kellerman should take the bet.
The fact Conor boxed as an amateur many years ago is the equivalent of a 27 year old that wrestled in high school and placed in their state tournament attempting to go wrestle Cael Sanderson.
Yeah, Sanderson is older and hasn't formally wrestled in years, but he is going to absolutely toy with the guy.
Good post. Conor is not completely out of his elements here.
I'm hoping for an upset just so all the "It will never happen " can go cry themselves to sleep lol

I'm not making a case for Conor winning. I'm just making a case against those who say he has no boxing experience. He does. It's just at amateur level, and he received high praise for his abilities from his former boxing coach.

No 1 cawkgobbler -MMA Playwright - And now, here are Chris Algieri and Tracy Lee....Wow what a butterface.
She has been known to post here...and you are an ignorant, disrespectful jackass.
Yeah - Tracy is a cool chick and a regular on here. Don't be a dick.
