Today in their biennial elections, the Association of Boxing Commissions elected its first new President in eight years. Missouri State Athletic Commissioner Tim Lueckenhoff had served in the position. In 2013, the ABC voted to institute term limits for officers and Lueckenhoff was ineligible to run in this year's elections.

Michael Mazzulli of the Mohegan Tribal Athletic Commission was elected the new President and will take offer the position immediately. In other positions, Brian Dunn of Nebraska first Vice President, Mike Kostrzewa of Connecticut second Vice President, Lydia Robertson of Arkansas the Treasurer, and Joe Walsh from Iowa as the Secretary. The ABC announced the election winners today on their official Facebook page.

The Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC) is a North American not for profit professional boxing and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) organization that provides a framework for undertaking boxing and MMA bouts and record keeping. It is made up of members from state and tribal athletic commissions from the United States and Canada.

The organization was formed in the 1980s when a number of executive directors of various boxing commissions met to discuss how boxing was handled in their jurisdictions.

I'm going to file this under my "I Don't Give a Fuck" folder.

Boxing is dead to me, it's why I love MMA and am never looking back. It's also more fake than pro wrestling and for that I blame (among a laundry list of other things) associations like this one. toilet flush Phone Post 3.0

I am guessing you don't know that the boxing commissions are responsible for regulating MMA ?. Despite the odd slip up, generally the standard of judging, refereeing and medical care in MMA events are pretty good in those areas that are properly sanctioned.

In addition to that, the record keeping which this site is part of is pretty important for the matchmaking process.

Mmm still hasn't changed my above stated opinions on boxing and I went and double checked and it's still filed under my "Zero Fucks Given" folder. Weird...

In all seriousness though it's always good to learn something new, thanks guys. Phone Post 3.0

Holy Shit! I can't believe that my old training partner, Brian Dunn, is now the V.P. of the A.B.C. I don't know much about the inner working of the A.B.C. but if he has ANY say in anything that matters this is a good move for M.M.A. He has been around since the BEGINNING and cares abut this sport as much and anyone I've ever met.

WOW. I remember kicking the crap out of each other daily and talking about "someday....". Damn, I'm old.

Thanks guys. Jeremy, I seem to remember you just kicking the crap out of me... Anyway, I think the new administration will definitely put a much needed focus on MMA. Phone Post 3.0
