adam sandler v rusty kanokogi

i was sitting and watching and i couldn't help but think man is this adam sandler doing the old cock and balls routine??? ur comments.

Rusty is an older Jewish woman who married and took the name of a Japanese Judo sensei. She actually hosted Yamashita when he came over to North Bergen for a seminar last fall. Crazy right?

Didn't Rusty have a pretty good career as a judoka in the 60s?

Do need to work on some of those MIC skills without a doubt.

After Iliadis won the gold at 81kg she says "Judo is now the National Sport of Greece"---Give me a break.

Last night after a big throw she makes a reference to a street mugging and says "Game Over".

Why could'nt someone like Mike Swain been the color commentator?

Now that I think about it Adam Sandler would have been better.

I was up for it and I believe when I found out she had found her way to
the top folks at NBC before me they decided on her and kept her. I
have been working with NBC and CBS out here for a while now and I
know what they want and that is not quite it. Now all of you New
Yorkers may appreciate the verbage more then the rest of us but
ooohhh well. When I found out who they were taking I told our press
agent to try and keep Jason Morris warm in the bullpen just in case. We
really need someone with the energy of the guy who is working with
her - he is quite good though not knowledgable.

just my couple cents.

Hi Dave,

Sorry I did'nt mean to exclude you, please do not take any offense. It fact based on your experience you would have been perfect for the job.

Perhaps even better than Adam Sandler. :)

Chris Farley would have been better than Rusty.

Dave, I think you would have been excellent for that position. I think Jason would have been ok, accept he would have felt the need to talk about himself or his "athletes" every other sentence. Jimmy Pedro would have been awesome since he does really well on national TV, no stuttering or verbal pauses etc etc.

I hate to say this but the first night of competition, I was watching and thinking, "who the hell is this guy (Referring to Rusty)." Then when I heard it was Rusty, I laughed so loud that I woke up the wife.........she didn't get the joke.

Rusty almost sounds like she has "dumbed-down" her Judo lingo to try and appeal to the TV audience, but she just comes off like a doof. The other guy actually sounds like he's done his homework.

Ahhhh what I wouldn't give for a "Oh! What a lovely technique........that Nomura is just so stylish!!" from Neil Adams............and a cold beer.

Cheers...............The Buck

Dog we agree again on a number of points.

Jimmy after he won would have been fantastic. I have interviewed him
numerous times for my show and he is great on camera. Folks have to
rememebr that we are after great TV not just to be on TV and that is
what I think Rusty brought to the table on this one. We needed a
homerun hitter and got a single hitter. Pat Burris would have been the
best. Remember none ofthis was live it was all post production - totally
different animal and you have the opportunity to see everything before
hand and put those feelings into the take, but that wasn't done
unfortunatly. Well see you on my show starting new season Tuesday at
5:30 pm channel 15.

Thinking (I will be spending the whole weekend in a dungeon trying to
finish this done in time)

Dave, sounds cool. I put together a 6 1/2 minute video of my kids training and competing at the USJF nationals and set it to music: "Fight the Good Fight" by Triumph. Its in DVD format. Let me know if you can use it for your show.

Peace..........Mike

no offence.. but she did OKAY all considering.. her hey-day in judo was quite a while ago and it really isnt fair to expect her to be the most up to date person when it comes to commentary and descriptions.

i didnt notice her making any calls that would have been truly bad, i even laughed when she said judo was now the national sport of greece--it might as well be considering how bad they are at everything else..at least they georgian citizens can win something. =)

my wife told me i was a terrible liar when i told her rusty was a woman.

Ummmmmm ok - No she did not do a great job she did an okay job.
Understand that this was our first big break albeit at 1 am to gain any
coverage for Judo. We needed a personality in there that could carry
the anouncer. She did not do it. I say this only because I do it everyday
I produce and am actually doing it now on this weeks show. BTW all of
my shows are behind schedule do to NBC's unwillingness to allow my
production of the trials until after the olympics. So everything will fall
in line - seniors trials and such but damn it is a shame they wouldn't
let me go earlier.

Dog - I would like to see it - I love looking at other folks work and yes
maybe I can use it.

If any of you have video that I don't have access too and wish to see it
aired let me know and we can arrange to get it on if possible.
