ADCC vs CJI - starts today

That was just a pathetic diplay of grappling. BJJ sucks. He was embarrassed. Paolo proved his BJJ wasn’t shit for MMA. Downey proved that it isn’t shit for pure BJJ.

What’s the difference in the rule set between this and ADCC?

This is my first time watching BJJ live, and only because it’s free.

This is my first live watch as well. It’s fantastic!

I think leg locks are the only way to win when you’re totally outclassed by a wrestler.

I missed it damn it. Went to the store. Now I’m back.

Walls is the biggest part. ADCC if you get taken down you get to work bottom from open space.

The other big one is rounds. ADCC is either 10 or 20 minute matches straight. At this level it’s REALLY hard to sub people, unless its an opportunistic RNC/Guillotine or leg locking a guy with bad leg defense, it’s going to take 7-8 minutes to fatigue someone and break through their layers of defenses with passes and such.

Seeing how Downey did with Luke makes me more excited to see how that huge NCAA champ does. If he doesn’t get leg locked early he’s going to be a real problem

I’m not so sure about that. ADCC has some of the most boring matches ever where the anti grappling guys just don’t engage at all and you get a bunch of half assed collar ties and they wait till points count before they start even wrestling.

Yeah but no matter what rule you add to try to stop stalling people will find a way to stall.

ADCC at least makes it so if you are seeking positional advancement leading to submission it’s possible.

The no points was meant to make it so guys could pull without losing and get the match started, but it’s not used that way anymore.

yeah so this has already been a lot more exciting because they’re forced to actually engage with 10 point scoring. There’s been a lot less stalling so far.

I just watched it. I must be on a delay from pausing. He tapped quick. Damn.

Garbage leg lock defense. No idea how to hide his heel at all.

Crazy how bad the knowledge of leg attacks and defense is at big Brazilian gyms. It’s not 1997, you gotta learn folks

C’mon do you really think he doesn’t know how to defend leg locks? He’s faced Gordon Ryan and been at the highest level of grappling for years and never been subbed before.

Absolutely. Zero attempt to get his knee to the correct position relative the line of the heel and the hip, no turnout movement, nothing. Just kind of stuck his secondary leg in the mix and tapped.

Even you aren’t an attacker of legs, that reaction should be burned into the brain of every single professional grappler

Thread got pinned? Curious who the UG community mod is.

Or he just didn’t respect the attack and got caught?

100+ grappling matches and never getting subbed probably means he knows how to defend leg locks.

Andrew should win this, but I’m really pulling for Kerkvliet.

Shout out to Josh Hummer in the corner of Kerkvliet. Phenomenal coach.

How many of those matches were heel hooks legal? Less than 10%?

When are heel hooks not legal? WTF, I’m lost.
