Regardless, he’s been competing at least 3+ years with heel hooks and he’s subbed high level guys with leg locks himself.
Doesn’t mean he knows proper defense.
Dude just got hit with a 2010 leg entry. I’ve been to a lot of big gyms that don’t understand proper modern defensive leg defense hygiene

The fact that it wasn’t anything complicated he got caught with makes it more likely he just fell asleep and got caught in my opinion. Anyways, will just agree to disagree.

Maybe. I don’t doubt that he didn’t expect that entry but the way he reacted to being put in cross ashi tells me he either doesn’t know good defense or hasn’t put the reps in there.
Andrew put on an old school BJJ clinic on dealing with a super good wrestler.
Don’t mess around with him standing. Don’t play butterfly and let him in on body locks (like Luke did). Just make him feel like he’s constantly solving a puzzle and put him through enough recursive defensive cycles that he eventually loses transitions.

That guy he had in his corner is probably the best MMA coach in PA. I’ve worked with him a lot to clean up my wrestling. He has a stable of great BJJ guys too.
Well, the guy who wasn’t Izaak that is. If that dude decides to do MMA he is going to be a real problem. Must be super coachable because his defensive posture and handfighting in guard was perfect.
