At UFC 189, Jose Aldo lost by knockout to Conor McGregor in just thirteen seconds. Aldo was mid-punch when he was hit with McGregor's straight left and recently told the media in a scrum that things could have been drastically different if it was his punch that landed:
"I think it's normal (that McGregor was respectful after the fight). Everybody expected that," Aldo told the assembled media in Brazil. "Like I said, I don't care, I think about myself and those who I represent. I couldn't care less what he says or doesn't say."
"The fight was one punch only. My punch barely hit but cut him. Imagine if it connected completely, it would have ripped his head off," he said. "But he had the merit to connect a good punch and end the fight."
Aldo went on to talk more about the bout, and addressed how people said he was "too emotional" causing him to be too reckless and aggressive.
"Everybody said I rushed when I decided to attack him, that I never did that before," he said. "But I already won in seven seconds before, how did I rush now?"
