Alex has a far better shot at being a successful double champ than Adesanya ever had
Pereira vs Jiri would be an insane clash of 2 immovable objects colliding
Its 2 pure lethal strikers who love to walk their opponents down. 1 will have to budge. Alex vs Jiri needs to happen. It doesnt get more interesting or exciting than that match up
Finally MMA is exciting again with pure strikers at the top
Alex stands too tall and lacks proper boxing fundamentals. His head is on a platter all night down the center. He exposes his centerline routinely with his awful shoulder positioning (Adesanya round 2)
Newbs who know nothing about fighting think Jiri has “worse striking” but the truth is, Jiri does all the flashy non sense on top of an already solid fundamental base. Jirir does have the fundamentals as his base
Jiri squats (smaller target) comes up with power from the ground up, and when in range he does keep his hands in position to block/catch/return fire. He only keeps his hands down to hide(shoot from out of line of sight)
Alex beating Jiri is absolutely not a sure thing at all
Alex is gonna be walking into a lot of jabs from Jiri
Jiri will stop him/off balance him with his jab, than shoot the rearhand down center off it
If Pereira could get that Superfight, and win, he should immediately call for a HW shot. Imagine if he caught Jiri, and then had a Superfight at HW. Win or lose, if he called it a career, it would be one of the most fascinating ever.
If UFC is willing to keep the train going, don’t stop now… go full steam ahead.
Yeah, and having him finally lose on a glorious mission through LHW, &/or HW, is a lot more interesting than seeing any competent grappler beat him at MW 50-45.
Again, why stop now? Lets lean into this experiment!
