Alistair on Mirko: -'This douche-bag didn't want'

From IntheGuard.tv, Alistair on Cro Cop: -'This douche-bag didn't want to fight.'

Alistair Overeem, the 28 year old fighter from Holland, holds a professional record of 28-11 and after transitions between light heavyweight and heavyweight he says that he's now [definitively] a heavyweight. The Dutch fighter from Golden Glory recently submitted K-1 star Mark Hunt in Dream 5 [July 21] and for the third time he called out Mirko 'Cro Cop' Filipovic to fight. The duel Overeem-Cro Cop was supposed to happen in September, Overeem talks about when it will take place and the purpose behind his will of fighting Mirko. Now, read this exclusive interview with StrikeForce heavyweight champion, Alistair Overeem.

First off since your beginning in MMA you're in transition amongst light heavyweight and heavyweight. Why does this happen and did you already thought about establishing in one of the divisions? Note that I am a natural heavyweight but I first planned to settle myself in the light-heavyweight division because I could. Getting older it became increasingly more difficult to make the weight. Now, after I have faced most of the top-10 fighters its time for another challenge, the heavyweight division.

What can you tell us about the match against Mark Hunt in Dream 5? Well, I can tell you I wasn't prepared to fight at all, I was celebrating my holiday after the Tae Hyun Lee fight at Dream 4, but I was still hungry to fight, so when the call came I immediately said yes. Although I did say yes, I was at 70-80% you could see I was hungry and sharp.

How did you plan to fight against him? I did but I wasn't able to train much for it by analyzing his fights. He has a weakness on the ground for sure but also with my standup experience I saw some weakness in his standup game, regardless, he is dangerous.

You performed very well on standing. How was your confidence in trading strikes standing with a K-1 level fighter? I'm part of the Golden Glory Team and I train standup at our K-1 department (Semmy Schilt, Saki, Errol Zimmerman, Challid Arrab, Stefan Leko) several times a week. I have been training k-1 for 13-years now and I'm still improving every training session

You challenged Mirko 'Cro Cop' Filipovic - is there any special motive for fighting him? Since when did you start calling for this fight? My desire to fight Cro Cop began when I read his interview stating nobody ...

 nice quote post to NOWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow. no link. no quote in title. the SUPSENSE IS KILLING MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

A part of me wants to see Crocop go back to being a complete killer in this fight, but Id also like to see Overeem get a big win because he is extremely talented and has never really been able to reach the upper tier despite having some big wins.

This win would put Overeem into the top 10 at HW

id love to see overeem in the UFC he could spice up the HW division quite nicely if he came with a gastank.

Be carefull what U wish for.

Sorry, my fault on not putting the link in different way. I'm not pro so this became difficult.
