Yeah, cater to the Diaz brothers. And only give them stand up fighters that don`t kick much that are also willing to engage.
Iām ok with this idea. I enjoyed watching Diaz get utterly dominated and humiliated for five rounds. Two more rounds of him getting his ass beat sounds good to me.
3. Nate Diaz loses, but comes out a winner
How did it happen that despite getting battered for 24 minutes by Leon Edwards, one good moment to close the fight made Nate Diaz feel like an even bigger star coming out of this event?
Thatās the power of this manās brand, but you shouldnāt be surprised, motherf*ckers.
Anyone who has been paying attention knows Diazās (20-13 MMA, 15-11 UFC) star power in the UFC has outgrown wins or titles. He has that unique element to him that can allow him to land one strong punch against Edwards (18-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC) in an otherwise one-sided fight, and then have the majority of the social media feedback claiming he was the real winner, despite clearly losing four of five rounds.
It was all he needed, though. The moment opened the door for Nate to very predictably bust out the Diaz brothers classic about how he wouldāve won with āstreet rulesā or in a fight to the death, and thatās exactly the route he went at the post-fight press conference.
You canāt blame him, either. The people eat him up, and will carry the water of that narrative on his behalf moving forward.
Because of that, Diaz remains in such position that he can continue to pick his moments. He said he wants to get back in three or four months, but it all depends on the options that surface. When a good fight arises ā such as a Conor McGregor trilogy or a Jorge Masvidal āBMFā title rematch ā he can jump back in and have no one care in the least about the result with Edwards.
The reason you want this is because he sucks at scoring 10-8s or finishing opponents in 3 or 5 rounds.
Leon is a technician. If you enjoy watching an elite fighter who is highly skilled in all areas and uses proper technique nearly all of the time, then you will enjoy the treat that is Leon Edwards. If you donāt enjoy watching those things, then heās not for you.
Fedor was not exactly Mr Controversy outside the ringā¦ yet had that āitā factor still. Some guys just donāt have it I guess
Yeah but his thing was entirely different. He was a terrifying dude. He had an enigmatic aura around him that was completely mystifying. Partially because he was the baddest motherfucker alive by way of destroying world class heavyweights swiftly, and partially because he did so seemingly unfazed and without breaking a sweat. The language barrier certainly played into his aura with the American fanbase.
