Round 1 obviously went to Story, VERY close in the 2nd and surprisingly the 3rd. Alves has a case that he should have won that fight. Looking at it objectively, I think it should have been a draw with Alves winning the 3rd and the 2nd being a 9-9 round. Here are the numbers...help from a blue please...

He was also the effective grappler. The fight took place where HE wanted it to, not where Alves wanted it to.
You either hate Story or don't understand the rules if you don't see Story clearly won that fight. Alves backed up and was pressed against the fence the whole time.

Alves did land 8 more "power shots" and everything else was damn near identical. Still had to be a 9-9 round if you ask me.

Story wins the round.
You can't win a round by not out striking the guy,
while backing up, and being pressed against the cage.
Had Alves spent less time backing up, and less time against the cage, you could have a stronger argument for a 10 10 round.

Story won the fight. There is no debate.. Thiago had no answer for the wall and stall.
Maybe if this was a boxing match.. compustrike doesn't account for grappling control. As much as you might want to whine about "hugging" being boring, it's still a huge fact in determining the winner of a fight. Until judging criterions are changed that's just someting you need to live with..

People Like Snatch Get Slapped - I was not excited by Story's performance, but I was impressed by it. It is an AMAZING feat of strength to hold a guy like Alves against the fence or hold him down...it's not exciting to watch but it's extremely difficult to do. He won round 1 decisively, round 2 was closer but definitely went to Story, and round 3 was close as well but definitely Alves.
The decision was exactly what it should be.
