Toreando pass by Amaury Bitetti, one of the greatest BJJ competitors in the 1990s.
So I feel stupid, but is that the right way to do the torreando pass? Seems more effective with the lower grip he's doing and also the drag component.
Every blackbelt I've learned from grips at the knees and does more of a step around.
The posted vid seems more effective.
Ya. I've always been taught to grip at the knees then pin the knees and shoulder into the hips. This is way cooler

Some guys like to control the lower part of the pants like Bitetti shows because they feel it gives you better control of the leg/foot and your opponent can't circle his feet around and/or use his hooks like he can if you grab his pants by the knees.

4 later! Thanks!
Some great variations there
love doing the torreando pass that way. Gives me great control. and it leads to other passes as well. Helps you step in deeper for the knee slide, leg drag and leg weave.
great videos
Cool, never seen that!
Ive never seen that either. Its a variation. Sometimes there is more than one way to skin a cat! Nice vid, thanks.

Good stuff. Is he trapping the bottom leg by pinning the to on it while he maintains the bottom leg grip?
