Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, Shogun

This is the toughest 3 consecutive fight lineup in MMA history. If a fighter could be called a ducker, Chael embodies the complete polar opposite of that. Win or lose, Chael has guts. Phone Post

That is pretty nuts. I would like to see him win one, but fuck it he fights anybody anytime any weight. Dude is an animal. Phone Post 3.0

Two title shots and a third high profile matchup? C'mon, anyone in the sport would jump at the chances chael is being given. He's not doing anything commendable here, he's taking big money fights that are low risk and high reward for him. Phone Post 3.0

GTFO. You think ANYBODY would jump at the chance to fight Shogun on short notice? Right..... Phone Post 3.0

Agree with OP,a lot of money to be made as well... Phone Post 3.0

Anyone in chael's position? Absolutely. He has nothing to lose. What, a few bumps and bruises maybe for a nice fat pay check going in against a guy on short notice you're not expected to beat? There's hardly anything commendable about that. Phone Post 3.0

Agreed. A potential lose doesn't hurt Chael like it would for other fighters. Chael has done a great job of marketing himself and is a big draw, him stepping up to make extra money is not a big risk. Worst case scenario is that he loses and collects a big cheque, which I'm sure doesn't hurt his prospects if he piles on more loses.

Sakuraba has some that rival it.

Wand - Rampage - Wand
Rampage - Wand - Cro Cop
Wand - Randleman - Lil Nog

Remember that he was outsized by every single one of these guys, and Chael wasn't outsized by Anderson and won't be outsized that much by a post-knee surgeries Shogun.

Hendo has a couple of gnarly streaks also.

Fedor - Shogun - Lyoto
Wand (champ) - Rampage (champ) - Anderson (champ)

Wand's Cro Cop - Hendo - Chuck streak is really nasty aswell. Randy's record has so many of them that I can't even be bothered to list them all.

Agree with davinci. Nothing super-budo or overly commendable here. He earned his first shot against Silva, and WWE'd his way to the rest. Phone Post

Chael doesn't lose much, but you said ANYONE in the sport would jump at the chance. No, that's wrong. Not many people at this level would jump into a fight with a killer like Shogun on short notice, not in contemporary MMA. Chael has already lost to Bones and Anderson, that doesn't mean it still doesn't take balls to fight Shogun on short notice. He's made plenty of money in his past three fights- he doesn't NEED to fight Shogun to get money. And I don't even like Chael. Phone Post 3.0
