From a technical point of view (my opinion only!)
Leites won around 9 fights by submission out of 16 fights, so going to the clinch did not make a lot of sense for Silva.
Anderson controlled the distance the whole time.
I'm pretty sure that the low push/side kick he used so much was a nod to the jiu jitsu fighters who have practically "trademarked" this kick over the years.
I train and fight and really appreciated Silva's mastery and I wonder if the people complaining really train or fight.
Just me 2 cents!
Anderson did his best to strike without being exposed.
Those kicks he was throwing can be painful!!
Anderson implemented a great gameplan to secure the W.

Andersen didn't want to grapple, Letes didn't want to strike. Its was shitty matchmaking. In the end, neither did either.
They gave him Cote who was game to bang and he did the same thing.
The fact that he was facing another Brazilian probably made him a bit less aggressive. "Easy" pay check!
Hit without being hit philosophy in action.
He regulated the distance all right---very far away

Am I missing something? Did Anderson and Cote fight twice? The Cote that I saw fight Anderson was not game to bang at all. He fought not to lose.
Cote didn't come to bang, and certainly Leites didn't... I'm not a casual fan, but I hated the Silva-Leites fight, despite Rogan's trying to make it appear to be better than it really was. Terrible matchup style-wise, and Silva would walk him down but not open up, which surely was partially his fault, as his corner was telling him.
Fights have to have some entertainment value. I don't want to see two guys who won't take any chances. Seek, you must have enjoyed Arlovski-Werdum as well :)

"Musashi - Anderson and Machida fucking ROCK. They are the prototype of the future whether people like it or not."
If they are the future, then MMA viewership and pay is going to plummet off a cliff. And then there will be no future for them, because they will have executed their fanbase with boredom.
The future of MMA is either with exciting fights or not at all. And if the rules/pay can't be modified to force the fights to be more exciting than what we saw last night, then MMA is going to become a fringe sport again, full of marginal athletes.
IMHO, Anderson and Machida may be the future in terms of skillset, but the kind of fighting we saw last night will be prevented by new rules. Because nobody can sell that bullshit to a significant audience. Only an actual fight will sell.
seek - Anderson's fight was GREAT!!!
No. Anderson's fight was cautious, tentative, and nowhere near what he is capable of, which is why everyone is disappointed.

The fact that anyone blames Anderson for the way that fight went down is absolutely ridiculous.
You know you are damn good if people consider your performance a fail just because you didn't obliterate the challenger.
Garf. Everyone knows Silva is damned good.
Doesn't make me want to watch him.
Lackluster effort by all parties.
+1 too much Brazilian love going on

ZeroTime - They gave him Cote who was game to bang and he did the same thing. That's not the fight I saw. Cote was all about just surviving from the first horn. Hell, he was bragging about making it as far as he did. Survival seemed to be Cote's goal going into it.
