Anybody left that doesn't think Andy is the GOAT?

Like I said before, bonner is no pushover. He went the distance with jones and won the last round against him. So anderson beating a guy that's that durrable, in that fassion is just amazing!! I have allways said fedor was the goat. And until this point in time I think he was. But after that performance last night, I think anderson has moved in to GOAT status!! He's simply an amazing fighter..

LOL@ people still bringing up the Jones/Bonnar fight. Jones had been fighting professionally for 8 months at that point. He had nothing other than Greco and couldnt even throw a punch correctly. Gusmao also went the distance against Jones--I guess that makes Gusmao a legit threat to Anderson

Fighters have never been better than they are now. Training has never been better. Strategizing has never been better. Nutrition has never been better. Match making has never been better.

And Anderson still runs through everybody. Phone Post

"Tell me, what huge win does Anderson have on his resume that there is no debate he beat so and so at the best point in his career?"

Belfort and Franklin for sure. Belfort's loss to Anderson is in the middle of a 6-year period during which Vitor won almost all his fights in the first round; even now Belfort -- on short notice -- just went farther with Jones than anyone but Rashad and came closer to beating him than anyone ever has. Franklin is a true great who has never lost to anyone but Anderson at 185 and has never been stopped by anyone but Anderson, Vitor, and Lyoto in an odd heavyweight fight (including Dan Henderson at Dan's "best weight" of 205).

"You don't think that the performances themselves should be taken into consideration, beyond just looking at the rankings and W/L? No one else ever has shown themselves capable of doing anything like what Anderson did to Bonnar. Bonnar could fight another 5 years against nothing but the best and I doubt you'd ever see something like that again."

Machida an Bones (both green) embarrassed Bonnar. An extremely green Rashad beat Bonnar. Bonnar's biggest win is who? Krystoff? Respect to both these guys for taking this fight, but the odds were what they were for a reason.

Great win for Anderson. Amazing performance. When we look back at his career, that is not going to be the fight that cemented his legacy.

A career full of highlight holy shit finishes, is worth a lot though. No doubt. This is the kind of stuff that keeps all of us watching this sport. Phone Post

Silly thread title imo. Of course there's lots of people that believe Anderson isnt the GOAT.

Just a month or so ago on this forum we saw that the largest Brazilian mma forum felt Fedor was the GOAT. The site that originally reported it in the states held their own poll, iirc they had the same results

Anderson put on an amazing performance again last night, very exciting. Interesting how the thread starter thinks that win last night would somehow be the deciding factor in making Silva GOAT however. Maybe he made the thread because he is trying to convince himself?

"Machida an Bones (both green) embarrassed Bonnar."

Machida handily outstruck a green Bonnar and stopped an otherwise fine Bonnar on cuts. That fight did not look anything close to this one. Bones threw everything but the kitchen sink at Bonnar and not only didn't stop him, but Bonnar won the final round. I have no doubt Bones would beat him again if they fought today; I also have no doubt that if he finished at all, it would be on cuts, and again would look nothing like what Anderson did. Only one guy has ever made Bonnar quit and he did it with one shot.

"An extremely green Rashad beat Bonnar."

It was Rashad's 8th fight, 11th if you include his TUF fights, 13th if you include his amateur fights, all of which were against heavyweights,  and didn't a lot of people think Bonnar deserved the decision iirc?

" the odds were what they were for a reason."

But like I said, the fact that a lot of fighters can beat Bonnar in no way changes the fact that there is only one fighter who can do what Anderson did to him last night.

God Bless Tim Tebow -
Goderson Silva -
God Bless Tim Tebow - He's the most talented fighter of all time.

He's not the greatest fighter of all time.

GSP, and Fedor have a better case of being the greatest. Roy Jones Jr is one of the most talented fighters in history, but he's no where near the greatest.

Please explain Fedors better case

His bigges win is Nog, no? Also when has Fedor ever done what Anderson does? ermmmm never.

GSP i like he dominates his opponents and gets stick for no reason i like Georges and don't want to see him fight Silva believe it or not.

Fedor beat Nogueira and Crocop at the peak of their careers. These are all time great wins that people are under estimating because of what Nog and Crocop are doing out of their prime. Just like when GSP destroyed Hughes when he was at the peak of his dominance.

Tell me, what huge win does Anderson have on his resume that there is no debate he beat so and so at the best point in his career?

Like I said, Anderson is the most talented, but he's not the greatest.
