^ not to mention, gloves.
Wasa-B -you know, you are rightcaposa -
now how could Kawajiri win this fight? he would follow Sakurai's gameplan of using his superior strength to overpower Aoki, and rain knees into his face or pound him out
Dont think Mach overpowered/manhandled Aoki there, he caught him with a transition.
I would highly doubt on Mach being able to duplicate that particular sequence.
after rewatching it was more of a sweep than overpowering, but that extra strength didnt hurt
i dont know, this fight is such a toss up for me
probably not gonna make up my mind until the fight is actually starting
Wasa-B -jkennedy - Fuck Aoki. He's back in Japan with his magic pants and a favourable ref. He'll be allowed to but scoot all night with no standups. Hell the ref might even help him with takedowns like they did during the Hansen fight.
Fuck Aoki.
Fuck Aoki fighting in the cage in the US.
Back in the cage that you can just stuff someone against with their slippy grease and refs that call standups quicker than sluts when you're drunk. The ref might not even let them fight it out like they did during the Melendez fight.
Fuck Fuck Aoki fighting in the cage in the US.
Are you claming Gilbert greased?
Kawajiri is going to cave Aoki's head in, btw.
Twostep, all fighters in the US grease, they get vaseline smeared on them pre fight and before every round starts. A sport with grappling should not have vaseline in it at all, its a crossover thing from the boxing commissions.
grenade - bro kawajiri is sick. His wrestling is so fucking good it's insane. Sometimes he gets caught up in slug fests, but if he stays disciplined like GSP he could be the number 1 LW in the world.

Yes, he showed he can match wrestling with Eddie and Gil. He has also acknowledged that brawling is something he will try not to get pulled into as much as many fighters break out from as they mature.
Not sure if that means he would be #1 but again, i think he does matchup well with the similar UFC LW wrestler types.

No, im not "claiming Gil greased." Im a big fan of his and he fought a very clinically disciplined fight against Aoki.
Its a comment in response to those claiming wearing pants is supposedly cheating when grease is applied to fighter's faces in the US and that can and does transfer to the body and it can effect grappling.
Im not saying grease should be banned, its serves a purpose. However, in the overall scheme of things, the grease, the gloves, the quick standups in the US all favour strikers or gives submission guys a disadvantage.
^^ and the lack of an independent athletic commission in Japan gives the promotions posterboys an advantage
jkennedy - It's gotten better but the point is at least 2 or 3 times the ref actually reached down and pulled Hansen's leg or foot to reposition him and Aoki would use this to take him down. The dude gets breaks all over the place and no one calls him out on it.
Unless my memory serves me wrong, it happened all of 1 time.
The timing was unfortunate however, it is not the first time the refs have pulled a fighter's arm or leg back in the ring when it gets caught outside. It happens all the time. It just that Aoki happened to be going for a td or single on the other leg.
Aoki did happen to take down Hansen numerous times otherwise and luckily, i dont think that particular td lead to anything of particular consequence.
Hansen also grabbed the ropes and prevented a td in the very beginning of the fight.
Your claim that Aoki used the ref's repositioning is just your own anti-Aoki bias however. Watch the replay. Aoki's head was on, iirc, Hansen's right side hip and Aoki had no view of the ref who was on Hansen's left. And again, that happened once. Not 2 or 3 times.
Lying to support your claim on that one doesnt necessarily make that "dude gets breaks all over the place." And lol at "no one calls him out on it." Yeah, we havent talked about Fedor being overated or whether he deserves to be #1 either.
jkennedy - Dude Aoki is the most babied fighter in the Dream camp right now. To say anything is stacked against him is fucking retarded. The fucking ref might as well have hand cuffed Hansed during that fight for as much as he fucked that fight up. The guy made Herb Dean look compitent and unbiased.
Mind as well as handcuffed him for the entire fight as he assisted exactly 1 td that didnt lead to anything special where as Aoki took Hansen down numerous times cleanly and where Hansen prevented a td from a rope grab that he was not penalized for?
Typical, lol. I wouldnt completely disagree that Aoki gets breaks from the refs there but as typically UG would have it, you are completely stretching the extent as you describe above.
The problem with most people like yourself is that you just dont like Aoki and like people dont like Bisping or Lesnar or Fedor, that really clouds judgement and all sorts of exaggerated claims that popping out of your stanky asses.
Gokudamus stole my name - ^^ and the lack of an independent athletic commission in Japan gives the promotions posterboys an advantage
And Aoki/Hansen II was a even odds fight too.
This being in japan and inside a ring, I got Aoki by sub.

Your statement is ironic considering Hansen was only a replacement in that tourney. Aoki was supposed to take on the winner of Kawajiri vs Alvarez
Was that going to be even odds? If Eddies eye didnt swell up, he would have gone through a war to take on a guy who basically had a nice 20 min grappling match in his semifinal fight
"Was that going to be even odds?"
No. Would never say second night GP odds were in the first place.
I do think there is a significant advantage for a fighter that fought like a 2-3 min fight over someone who fought 20 min however. Call me an Aoki nutrider on that.
And that statement is only in response to someone who said there was no advantage or disadvantage.
That is all.
Kawajiri
"I do think there is a significant advantage for a fighter that fought like a 2-3 min fight over someone who fought 20 min however. Call me an Aoki nutrider on that."
Well there is an advantage of being the posterboy aswell, thats why Hansen felt the need to go for a crazy escape rather than stall for the last minute in their third fight, out of fear of losing a decision despite beating Aoki for 14 minutes
"Its funny how many Aoki haters keep on reeming on the tights when so many things are already stacked against sub guys that is just standard for them: the cage, grease, quick standups."
This. I seriously do not understand why these guys don't just stfu and watch K1. They won't be happy until everyone has to fight in greasy jock straps with brass knuckles on both hands and two second stand ups.
I've got Aoki by sub
Im going to touch the hot stove again and bet against Aoki.
Look... this is going to the ground and Aoki is gonna school him.
