Are Strikes to Neck legal?

there are so many posts about Renzo vs. Frank.
So here is another one.

To me it look like Franck pushed his head out of the way, and hit him in the neck.

He did it twice.

I'm supprised he didn't try to use it to his dfence, and just said he fouled.

To me it's not clear if strikes to the neck legal, or not.

The knees to me looked like shoulder - neck strikes.

From the showtime overhead angle it looks like neck shots, after the first one to the neck Renzo turns his head exposing the back of his neck, Frank pulls his head and fires another one.

Top of the spinal column is illegal...

Strikes to the neck are legal if two people are standing...IE, muay thai style kick to the neck...

knees from the bottom, I'm not sure about...I think that falls under the knees to a downed opponent category...

upper neck = head

back of the upper neck = back of the head

Thats what I'm trying to see, I havent seen a clear rule on knees to the side of the neck.

If you're kneeing someone in the side of the neck and they turn there head than it shouldnt be a foul.

It is splitting hairs, but there needs to be a rule that says 'No knees to the head or neck' if thats the case.

So far I have only seen head or spine.

neck strikes are legal- on the side of the neck. ie a head kick catching the neck is ok. Strikes to the throat are not ok- and strikes to the spine are not ok. final answer.

Just got home and took a quick look again.

The first knee was dead in the neck, center of the knee to side of the neck / high trap.

Than Renzo turns his head, Frank pulls it and it goes to the base of the skull / back of the neck.

Please look at the overhead and slow motion it.

Renzo turned his head after the first knee, so he made it a back of the neck/spine strike.

The first strike was in the side of the neck.
