Ares FC Heavyweight Champion Slim Trabelsi is making the move to Bellator MMA in the form of a six-figure contract.

News of Trabelsi’s signing was confirmed by MMA Junkie’s Nolan King following an initial report from Scott Fontana.

MMA journalist Cole Shelton also reported on Thursday that Ares FC headman Fernand Lopez plans to file an injunction to stop the signing.

Trabelsi was at the center of a nasty feud between Lopez and MMA manager Ali Abdelaziz last year. Ahead of his planned UFC debut against Parker Porter at UFC 280, he withdrew from the bout after Lopez and Ares FC took legal action to ban his release.

Inside the cage, Trabelsi has been a force so far in his fighting career. He earned the vacant heavyweight title in Ares FC last September via second-round TKO against Azamat Nuftillaev.

Trabelsi made his MMA debut in March 2019 with a unanimous decision win at Gladiator Fighting Arena 11. He has won his first five professional fights overall.

Trabelsi is expected to make his Bellator debut this summer against a to-be-determined opponent. He’ll make the leap to one of the top MMA promotions and joins a stacked Bellator heavyweight division.

But, Lopez’s alleged injunction could postpone Trabelsi’s next fight from coming to fruition.
