You fight 20 professional fights, that’s a solid career.
Some have 40. Fewer have 50+
It’s quite rare to have over 100 professional fights.
111 professional mma fights
Pretty crazy
Crazier than that? At least one professional mma fight, for TWENTY SEVEN CONSECUTIVE YEARS!! This might be the Cal Ripkin Junior equivalent as I think I could die an old man with this record not even being close to broken.
But did he ever fight any quality opponents?
Well…
Minoru Suzuki
Semmy Schilt
Pete Williams
Frank Shamrock
Jason Delucia
Masakatsu Funaki
Guy Mezger
And that’s just his FIRST YEAR lol
He went 6-3-1 his first year fighting pro
Considering he weights 165lbs with clothes on, if you know who those fighters are, you know besides being legit, they also had a significant size advantage. If his body was bigger, he’d be in the superweight division accounting for his huge balls but since he was small in stature, he was able to make well below the hw limit.
I considered naming every credible opponent he fought, but that’s a task in itself as there’s so many recognizable names he fought for over 25 years.
I had him pegged as a lower tier fighter, someone who had no business fighting Wanderlei Silva when he did. Shame on me. I had no idea how certified Yuki Kondo is/was. This man has changed my opinion of the fighter I once thought he was. He has set a standard that is truly admirable.
