ONE Heavyweight Champion Arjan Bhullar recently had some big talk in regards to a potential inter-promotional bout with Francis Ngannou.
Ngannou, the former UFC Heavyweight Champion, recently confirmed his signing with the PFL. The contract will also give āThe Predatorā the space needed to pursue his interest in professional boxing as well.
Bhullar, meanwhile, has been the ONE heavyweight kingpin for over two years now but has not fought since his championship-bagging victory over Brandon Vera at ONE: Dangal in April 2021.
āIt Would Be The Most-Watched Fight Of All Timeā - Arjan Bhullar On Facing Francis Ngannou
During a recent interview with Chamatkar Sandhu, Bhullar was asked if he was interested in facing āThe Predatorā. Bhullar was quick to point out that, for now, heās focusing on his upcoming clash with Anatoly Malykhin but confirmed he had some interest in Ngannou.
āYes and no. June 23rd, Iāve got a date,ā Bhullar said. "Iāve gotta take care of that, but after that, nothing else, itās all just talk. So no in terms of that, but if weāre just talking, weāre sitting on a podcast, then yes, definitely.
Bhullar went on to theorize that the $2,000,000 minimum pay for Ngannouās future opponents likely only applies to fellow PFL roster members. Bhullar believes that he could earn considerably more in an inter-promotional clash with āThe Predatorā. Bhullar, who is of Indian heritage, believes heād likely draw huge viewership for the fight in India, though he vastly underestimated just how large the nationās population is in 2023.
āAnd I think to be quite fair, I think that two million is if youāre in-house with the PFL. If weāre co-promoting, weāre doing this or that, thereās no ceiling to that. I think thereās significantly more, in terms of myself, thereās no other heavyweight on the planet that could bring 800 million eyeballs, [through]Star sports [broadcaster of ONE Championship in India], to the table being a champion with that. It would be the most-watched fight of all time, you wouldnāt get those eyeballs anywhere else.ā
For now, a showdown between Bhullar and Ngannou seems highly unlikely given both menās lengthy inactivity and current commitments to separate promotions.
If you answered " on Glue " You win the interweb today
Guy has been nothing but a boring whiner his whole career.
isnt Arjan and Francis both represented by the same people?
The same people who have kept Arjan out of competition for 2 going on 3 years now.
Anyways Arjan sucks hes afraid of the Russian
Just hope Malykhin puts him to sleep.
Bhullar has had two fights in four years in ONE and a UD over 1-3 UFC fighter Marcelo Golm is probably the biggest win of his entire career.
Yep once Malykhin won the interim title Arjan has been nowhere.
VU x2
That is hilarious
800MM eyeballs in India and not a single one having to pay for it.
Seems like a solid business plan there.
