Yeah it’s the logical next fight and should be for the title since Jones keeps saying that he’s retiring. Kind of a modern Cain-JDS vibe. Two young HWs who are running through everyone.

Technicalities aside do you really think Tom is undeserving of this? The last time we saw a heavyweight run through the division like this was Cain.

I would actually argue the opposite, both of them may retire and pass the torch to the younger generation. Heavyweight has new life when they are gone

You are right, there is no way they try to do Aspinall vs Pavlovich next. Pavlovich is likely waiting to be in the next title fight.

If the Jones Stipe winner retires after this fight then UFC is gonna need a title fight for the first half of 2024 and Pavlovich vs Aspinall would work.

If Almeida can get by Blaydes he is gonna be right up there as well.

Spivak will be in the title picture if he can beat Gane.

Yep. Stipe and Jones have actually really slowed down the title picture in a terrible way.

Stipe has been involved in all these title fights but in the past 7 years he has only fought 6x.

That is not a fighter you want involved in title fights but UFC has went with it because Stipe’s career was based on being in his prime and beating all the past their prime vets like Arlovski, JDS etc…

Besides the Ngannou fights, Stipe has not fought anyone in their prime since his first fight with JDS in 2014.
