I listened to the Luis Heredia podcast. It was a good one. In it he told the story of a Shooto fighter coming to challenge Rickson (1994, I think) with a bunch of Japanese press, etc., at the time you guys couldn't remember his name. That guy was Yoji Anjo. A post fight pick can be found here:

I'm not sure if it was the same podcast or not but you mentioned that you used to wash your belt but someone admonished you for it so you don't wash it any more. Can you tell me what the rationale is for not washing it?

About the belt washing - when I started as a white belt I washed my belt with my GI. Nobody noticed until I got a blue belt and promptly went home and washed it. The next class it was obvious I washed my belt.

A purple belt at the time basically said,"stop washing your belt or we're gonna kick your ass."

So I stopped and now I perpetuate the bullsh!t. Phone Post 3.0
