I saw the move on the IFA video as well. I learned a variation of it from Jean Jacques. It is the same one he does here on Leo Vieira at the 2000 ADCC (at the 8:40 mark):
The difference is that I learned it from the reverse half guard (opponent is facing my legs) and I do not give up the guard pass until I have the cradle locked. Because of the closeness of my opponent on top of me (as well as the angle of the roll), by the time the reversal begins there really is no space for them to post in an attempt to defend.
We have the instructional on this in the Online Training Program. Whats really amazing is that it was a member request and when we asked Jean Jacques about it he said he never actually used the move before. He just found himself in position and his instincts just took over. Unreal....
My God, this Jean Jacques.
Hey Jayman, you guys got anything on passing the inverted guard on your online training?
No, not yet. We recently had Rigan as a Guest Instructor and he performed some set ups and attacks from the inverted guard. But nothing on how to pass it. That is an area we need to address. I will PM you when we do.
Thanks -
Thanks, jayman! That's interesting. It seems like JJ caught the perfect timing with that sweep. Beautiful.
I'm going to have to try it out tonight. Thanks again!
Pretty cool! I actually use the cradle to pass the guard a lot. It works when when I'm working to pass z-half guard or even pass butterfly guard.

No at the moment that video is not on the Grapplers Guide however, for my school I am going to be covering guard passing not next week but the following and it's possible I may cover that in my class. If I do then I'll definitely make sure I film it.

thanks jasculs, perhaps post here if you do it.
I love that vid. Watching him utterly dominate a legend like Leo really shows the level of JJ Machado's BJJ.
That was a great match!!
