no love for baldomir in the predictions i see.
im suprised that he stopped him though, i thought gatti would be able to gut it out until the final bell.

I chuckle at everyone here predicting before the fight that Baldomir wouldn't be able to slug with Gatti, that Gatti had the power.
And then in the fight Gatti's biggest punches didn't do anything but make Baldomir smile and come forward and beat Gatti up some more.
i don't know why its funny to think that a guy with 12 whole KO's has no power
I'm not surprised that Gatti didn't thrive at 147. I was surprised at how much bigger Baldomir looked though. Gatti is 1-2 at 147 now and has been ko'd in both losses. The guy has all of the heart in the world, but he's just not meant to be in that weight class.
I hope he walks away and enjoys his spoils. He's had a nice financial run the last few years so hopefully he's set up well. He gave us all some greatly entertaining fights.
He beat Judah who has amazing speed and went on to give fits to Mayweather for a little while.I think he could give anyone at the weight class trouble at this point. He might not beat the elite but he will let them know they were in a fight and make them look bad in the process.
did anyone catch the part where they said baldo walks around at 187!
i think baldo vs. margarito would be a good matchup.
I could see mayweather scooping in and fighting him though.
I read some where that Baldomir's style is very similar to castillo (come foward, lots of pressure). castillo gave mayweather problems in their first fight. Baldo is MUCH bigger then castillo. something to think about.
Gator you are right, castillo is undoubtebly better then baldomir. i was just comparing styles.
I thought Baldomir looked very good - workmanlike and technically sound. On top of that, he's VERY tough.
Props to Gatti for continuing to be a warrior, but I think it's time to hang it up.
I wonder if he can even make 140lbs. anymore.
Gatti nailed Baldomir with some flush shots. Someone with more power could probably put him away; his defense doesn't seem to be the best
I don't think Gatti can make 140 anymore
I think Gatti has said in the past that he can't make 140 anymore. That's why he moved up.
well he's screwed then. he either needs to step down his level of competition and just fight scrubs for fun and money, or he needs to hang them up.
either than or maybe fight Hatton, since Hatton looked like ass at 147 too. I think Hatton would beat Gatti, but I can't see Gatti being competative with any of the other top guys at 147 anymore.
no, he killed himself making weight for mayweather at 140. this much he has admitted. and he didn't move up for a title shot, he moved up, fought damgaard and then baldomir upset judah for the title. trust me, that was the only reason gatti got a shot.
dude, the whole thing with his conditioning coach before the fight started was basically him saying Gatti had fucked his body all up trying to stay down at 140
Of course we'll tell you that. He said after the Mayweather fight that he couldn't make 140 anymore.
Baldomir/Haatton would be even easier for Baldomir then Gatti was. Gattis biggest punches seemed to bounce right off Baldomir. Hatton was badly hurt in his lone welterwieght encounter, and Baldomir would walk through him in the same manner he did Gatti.
Gatti was hitting Baldomir in the face. Guys with good chins can still be hurt by body shots, and Hatton does a lot of body punching.
I'm not saying I'd pick Hatton to win, but to say that he couldn't hurt Baldomir because Gatti didn't is fallacious, imo.
i was actually surprised that Gatti didn't go to the body at all with Baldomir. i think that's an easy way to beat anyone, and it makes even guys who are alot better than you beatable
its funny you said that jason, every one i was sitting around was saying
GO TO THE BODY
GO TO THE BODY
HOW COME HE ISNT GOIGN TO THE BODY
HE SHOULD GO TO THE BODY
ETC ETC ETC
