Bas Rutten's Pancrase fights

I've been watching some of Rutten's old Pancrase fights and I must say that for a guy who really didn't know much about grappling at that time, he managed to acquit himself quite well. I mean, the guy couldn't even spell sprawl back then yet he was able to learn enough rudimentary submissions and chokes to stay competitive with a young Frank Shamrock in two fights. Not bad for a guy who had only started to train submissions less than two years prior and had no real sparring partners of any quality.
