CRE - Gilbert Burns is always chirping him on twitter.
Gunnar Nelson or Li Jingliang?
RDA vs. Askren?
Lawler rematch?
Or another Florida goon in Platinum Perry or Niko Price
Umm why?! What’s the point of matching Askren vs Perry or another young guy? Either he grinds them out in a terribly boring fight or they knock him out…it won’t be a great fight either way…
He walks like he has shit himself. Either he has ruined his body by wrestling for 25 years, or he is the most unathletic guy to have ever made the UFC.
No you're wrong.he's 1-2.He finished Lawler in the first round via a bulldog choke.
No, he didn’t finish him. Ref jumped the gun.
Yes he finished him in the first round via bulldog choke.if you look at sherdog in fight records it shows there.
Yes and Matt Hammil beat Jon Jones.
Matt Hammil = GOAT
Oh, c’mon.
Reasonable people can differ over whether Ben would have finished that choke. However, Ben was in a dominant position when the fight was stopped and the momentum was on his side. Totally different from the Hammil fight.
Conor could make an interesting matchup, although not sure it works with the timeframe (Conor wants to compete soon - didn't see the fight, not sure how much damage) and weight.
Youre basically an idiot. I didn't like Herbs call, but I understand why he did it. Lawler lost. You can "basically" all you want, but it doesn't change the result.
I'm basically an idiot. I've always been a fan of Ben.
He got the living fuck stomped out of him against Robbie and pulled off a hail Mary that may or may not have even been legit. Let's not act like it was the most clear victory you've witnessed

He lost on a technicality. It's like saying Manny pacquiao lost to Bradley on the first fight

Fight gets stopped with his thumb up.
That fight was one of the most controversial of the year.
Give your head a shake.
Thanks for agreeing the fight got stop.
The controversial stoppage?
Would have been more convincing to stop it when Robbie KO'd Askren on the ground.
A stoppage would have been legit.
But there wasn’t a stoppage. Just like there wasn’t in Barry-Kongo and Edgar-Maynard. Ben had a chance to come back and he seized it. By the time he got the choke, the fight was going his way. But, we don’t know what would have happened if Herb hadn’t stopped it.
JOB - Was a pretty competitive fight with Maia until he gassed.
This. People are vastly underrating his performance against Maia, that fight was highly competitive and entertaining. Even the grappling exchanges were competitive but the more scrambles we saw, the more evident it became that Maia was simply too good on the ground.
Askren's striking definitely looks a bit strange and motionless, but he landed a lot of effective strikes on Maia. People like to criticize Askren but forgot who he was in there with. The best BJJ player in MMA.

If Robbie was never out, he was monumentally dumb for letting his arm go limp and flop to the ground in the middle of a bulldog choke. I really don't buy that he was "just resting" as he claimed. It's like "just resting" in the middle of an RNC.
It looked to me like he was lowering his arm to post up.

He might have been, but I can definitely see why Herb Dean thought otherwise. I've seen the gif quite a few times and it looks like the arm is dead weight for a bit there. I've heard some say the bulldog choke is nothing more than a schoolyard head lock. Nothing could be further from the truth. Rener Gracie did a great breakdown on why Robbie wasn't getting out of it because of the way it was being applied. Maybe he wasn't out, but Herb was erring on the side of caution.

Yeah, and all the Askren fans who still think Masvidal got lucky will have to face up to the fact that Askren did worse on the ground than Masvidal did, and Masvidal was up against a much more dangerous fighter.
