To be comparable to Pride at least the semis and final should be held the same night. If they're not, it's not a tournament in the Pride sense. The fights would be mere elimination bouts.

Rogers is underrated. Losing to Fedor and Overeem does not make him a can. In fact, other than Werdum, I think Rogers gave Fedor more trouble than anyone. Phone Post

I agree, that tourney was awesome

DoctorVanNostran - Lol at this so called "tournament". It's contenders fighting each other to get a title shot. Really groundbreaking stuff! <img src="/images/phone/post_tag.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>

LOL @ nitpicking winers actually finding something bad to say about such an awsome tourney....Just go watch your free UFC special on Spike filled w/ low rent TUF fighters that Dana will be offering up for free that night.

Stu Cazzo -  ....but let's not start sucking each other's dicks just yet -

SF cant promo self felate like the big boys and every other business?

1 - it's not a true tournament where you have to fight twice - no comparison to the Pride gp's

2 - the first round hasn't even started yet

PatrickFreitas - If you're really uncomfortable with promotional hyperbole, you prolly shouldn't watch MMA or boxing.

C'mon Patsy.....promoting is not just something that happens in MMa and boxing....it happens with every company in the whole friggin world.

If you're uncomfortable with somebody questioning the truth of a claim then you "prolly" shouldn't be posting on an internet forum.

agreed.

ALL sports overflow with hyperbole. those who feel uncomfortable with the way any sports commentators toss around words like "greatest" and "best" shouldnt watch sports at all.

just doesnt seem like that big of a deal. i think we can all agree that its a very good tournament or fight series (or whatever fans want to call the matched up brackets), but is it the "best ever?" yes. no. maybe. who cares, really? its still very, very good.

*edited for awful grammar

Hell yeah it's a great setup....

I just think it's a little too early to judge it as the best before it even started....

JM2010 - Pride GP 2003 equals SF GP 2011
Wanderlei Silva = Fedor Emalinenenko
Kazushi Sakuraba = Sergei Kharitonov
Quinton Jackson = Alistair Overeem
Chuck Liddell = Josh Barnett
Alistair Overeem = Big Foot Silva
Murilo Bustamante = Fabiricio Werdum
Hidehiko Yoshida = Andrei Arlovski
Kiyoshi Tamura = Brett Rogers

I'd say it's equal to if not better than Pride GP 2003....

If anyone remembers correctly Liddell knocked out Overeem in the Pride GP.. And it was nice!

Lol at people saying it is not a tournament or not a great tournament because it is not done the same way as pride. Pride did not invent or perfect the concept of tournaments. There way was grand and exciting, but the strikeforce tournament is actually being done in a way that will determine who the best SF HW is, rather than a one night battle of attrition.

I don't think one way is better than the other. They are just different. Both better in their own ways.

Best tourney ever was the second Ultimate Ultimate show. This is an easy call.

Imo its the best hvy weight tournament ever and best tournament of the decade.
This tournament is loaded with some of the best mma fighter s of all time.

I wish carwin was in there instead of b rogers and put brett in reserve fight other wise great tournament

 well strikeforce is paying pat.
